Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

looks dull in terms of LGR

Not to be overly critical, but the remaster doesn't capture the same vastness of the landscapes and buildings, be it due to FOV or something else. It's hard to top well working design choices in my opinion, the cohesion of the original work, but as said, in large number of aspects the remaster is visually an improvement anyways. I don't have any issue with the colour palette, just with how grand things look in general, while I do see that the original has a bit more magical, fantasy like glow to it including the colourfulness. Perhaps it's good in the end that similar remasters do not exactly replace the original work, just add to it, change it or hone it, but rarely can be stated to be the definite choice to experience the game - I wouldn't hang on this matter if it happens to bother someone that we cannot simply have something better and all settle on the one iteration.

For one thing, the leveling is changed that do affect the experience, no matter how you slice it, be it better or worse, depending on one's opinion of course. I don't have a strong opinion on this, but here is info on the changes for those who are interested (the author seems to strongly dislike the original approach, the important part is in the spoiler).

In Oblivion Remastered, both minor and major skills contribute to leveling and you simply get 12 points—called virtues—to spend improving your attributes every time you level up, no matter what. The effect of some of those attributes has changed too. Agility now improves the damage you do with shortswords and daggers as well as bows, and when you pump your Endurance up to increase your hit points, the amount you get is retroactive, treating you as if you had that higher Endurance every time you leveled up before now. No more rushing to boost your Endurance before everything else, thank goodness.

Walking movement is way fast it looks good but the movement is janky oh yeah turn Post Processing to Low to save your eyes I think I need FOV turned up a few notches as well. I chose Breton but Rolled a Battlemage.

So sounds like classes don't matter anymore. Lame. I hate classless leveling in RPGs.

Can any of you fine people help me out? I have 4-5 hours into the game and my dumb ass didn't realize I need to sleep to level up. So I've been running hours of quests and leveling up skills without advancing my main level. My question is, does this waste XP towards the main level?

The only person who would enjoy this game is an Oblivion purist that is the person with two games in his Library this being one and the other Oblivion. The reviews reflect the game. Not saying it's a bad game but with so many others games out there Todd Howard pulled a fast one on the internet.

In the OG you lost the XP.

I find the movement to be very good... I can swing around 180 and throw a spell very easily.. almost a flick shot.. TG I am only 1440p UW now... it's running on all ULTRA with RT at medium pretty well outdoors... indoors smooth as butter.... I am greatly enjoying roaming the woods and hitting random caves and such as I sort of follow the main quest line..

EDIT: not using any frame generation yet.. it's smooth enough so far.

I mean i dont think any TES classes ever mattered. You can be whatever you want to be?
Sure, once you hit level 50 it doesn't matter anymore. At the start, though, the advantage you get from your major skills certainly affected how you played the character.

yap and that is still there. I went warrior/knight to start off as. So what you are stating is still there at least for me and my wife?

I remember starting out builds that were not balanced, starting a quest, not being able to finish them...just had to restart. The old saves got corrupted a lot when the game was released.

I also remember gaming the leveling system one run and I beat the game at level 6 or 7.

Still, despite being a blatant cash grab, they did clearly do a lot of work and I hope people get their value out of this.

I figured it out. I wedged myself in a wall and let sneak level up while I had dinner then when I went and slept I got 3 levels. So it saves the overflow XP.
yap all the exploits and Jank is still there. The core has not changed at all.

Nexus sold out a while ago from what I've read. That being said, anyone knows any good alternative sites for mods?

I mean who gives a fuck if they use type 1 and 2. It's not like its hurting anyone other than someones Ego lol.

And before you go (Well the game was changed blah blah). Company owns the game and can do whatever they want. If they want to ban all Trans stuff or change things, don't buy the game. Thats the freedom we have...is to choose to buy it or not.

Was hoping they'd bring in the penis size options from Cyberpunk, body type 2, dick size 3

The Nexus Sites mods had already started banning the male/female mod and people that comment. banning paying customers 😏

They are a friggin' joke
This is so dang silly.

I just finished watching this:

Bethesda people are all women, most fat with ridiculous hair. The developers at virtuous--typical nerd gamer types. Pretty sure the reason this seems to have been done so well is because they had actual gamers working on it rather than activists.

lol probably true

Exactly, the game aint going to change, and no matter what your or my opinion is, we are stuck with what we got.

I think it's always prudent to talk about censorship.

Makes me worried for TES VI

I mean this is to be expected. To me it will be rare when a game company doesn’t just say type 1 and 2. Doesn’t offend anyone, and it covers their butt from everyone.

This is where we'll disagree. Censorship should offend everyone especially in a free society. The whole "it's their game, their choice" isn't an argument either. I'll criticize it every time. The game is much more than male and female body types so I'll still play it but it's just too ridiculous not to give mention.

Word choice isn't censorship, it's a decision they made no one forced their hand.
Well, Nexus censored the mods that simply changed two strings.

Exactly? Who gives a fuck?

So why do people give a fuck if a mod changes them? If it's not important, than it's not important.

Unless it is...

What about this is censoring you? I mean you can still make the person you want. I would rather have more options than being limited.

To me censoring and limiting your options to make a character is censoring you.

Depends on if you think content moderation is censorship, but at the end of the day they're a private company and allowed to do that. They're not legally obligated to host anything. I'd put it more under content moderation, and a pointless decision that'll only fill up their service email. Shit gets taken down here or threads get shut down all of the time. Ultimately, I dont care, the game is awesome regardless of who made it.
