I made installation thumb drives for freenas, now no matter what computer I put them in they cause it to crash.

Windows PC the drive causes instant BSOD and a reset

ok i thought put it in a linux box to kill it, setup a ubuntu box, it cant mount it.

Am I dumb? How do I erase these drives back to blank?

Lol I actually just had this same issue with a win 7 box, but was able to plg them into a win 10 box and all was well.

I have a flash drive running FN and perpetually fails to scrub itself but keeps on running. I am afraid to upgrade it to 11... Perhaps FN is particularly hard on write cycles to dumb flash drives that don't have wear leveling...

And for clearing it out, try booting a Live Linux or Parted Magic. I imaged a failing Intel SSD recently that would lock up any windows environment yet Parted Magic and Aomei linux read from it just fine.

fyi its not you.. I have been posting this issue there and someone else too now..

you have to put it in win10 box and use diskpart to clear the partition.

I was trying rufus to get 11.2 to thumb and tried 4 different programs to no avail. had to just go 11.1 r6 for freenas...
