Although it delivered top-notch game load time performance and did fairly well with copying data and reading it back, as we saw in ATTO, sequential performance lags with small files.
The ADATA XPG S40G is not a high performer.
The reality is the XPG Spectrix S40G RGB only performed well during specific tests and rarely came close to its rated write speeds
But as a HUGE storage drive, especially with RGB for those that like it, it's a steal. I am in to photo/video/music editing, so this much storage that isn't an HDD is welcome. I have one on order. From the reviews, the S40G series in general isn't a stellar performer. As a storage/games drive it would work fine, but I wouldn't use it as a workstation drive or a boot drive. Its most distinguishing feature is the bright RGB LEDs.

Now $499. Glad I got one. As a storage drive, its more than sufficient. Almost wishing I grabbed 2. I wouldn't have to worry about storage for years.I came SOOOOOO close to ordering this,
Btw ... the 2GB version with the RBG's is only $219 ...
The RGB is done very poorly and I would have to remove one of the heat plates / shields from my z490 Asus Hero Maximus ....
I read that they had to limit the RGB's because of power something or other?
