EB Conference Call: Holiday Sales and Delays

Top holiday titles, per EB’s sales report:
(in no particular order)

1. NFS:U
2. True Crime
3. FFX-2
4. MOH:Rising Sun
5. LOTR: Return of the King
6. THUG
7. Mario Kart

Other notes:

Hardware sales will probably be down slightly overall. EB’s hardware sales grew 19%, but they had about 30% more stores open this year than last. GCN sales were up 70%.

Software sales were up by 62%. They sold more new games than they expected, and less used games than expected. Greatest Hits sales are strong. PC games are selling better than expected.

Hardware price cuts expected no later than Q2, possibly in Q1.

PSP expected to go on sale in 2004.

Half Life 2 and Doom 3 expected to slip again. Possibly also Halo 2.
 
Good to hear that PC games are selling better. Would be curious to know in what order the top-selling games were. Great post!
 
Well, just FYI, Mario Kart was the top seller in the November NPD with 500,000 copies sold in under 2 weeks :)
