Dyson Plans to Launch Electric Car in 2020

This news really caught me off guard. Surprised me that they would move into this market.

Decent vacuum - $80
Dyson vacuum - $500 (6.25X)

Decent hair dryer - $30-40
Dyson hair dryer - $400.00 (10x)

Decent sedan $17,000-19,000
Dyson sedan ~ $150,000 ?????

Solid State batteries makes this a more probable competitor to the ICE. Lithium Ion are too toxic (cobalt), have too short a range and too long of a charging time. Toyota's research into solid state batteries claim a charging time of 2-3 minutes which can compensate for shorter ranges. Toyota's estimate of 2022 five years away though...

If the manufacturing and recycling of solid state batteries has less of the nasty toxicity of Lithium Ion batteries they might actually be a realistic alternative.

That'd take 2 megawatts to charge in 3 minutes assuming a 100kWh battery.

"Short ranges" lets assume 20kwh that's still 400 kilowatts.... that's around 700 amps at 600VDC...
