New'ish PC (some old some new parts) built with Windows XP Pro. Whenever I start to play a DVD (whether from disk or from hard drive) and no matter what player (PowerDVD or TotalMedia Theatre) it pegs the cpu usage as soon as I hit play, and then after about a minute or so start playing and usage drops to normal.
I've uninstalled all player software, divx, etc... and uninstalled video drivers (and used driverclean) and reinstalled and still same problem. Never had anything like this before, hoping someone else has some experience with this.
PC info as follows:
AMD 3800+
2 Gig Corsair (4 x512MB Dimms)
MSI K8N SLI Motherboard (using onboard Creative audio)
7900GT
2x Seagate 1TB drives
2x Seage 500G drives
