"Maxima pushed a green button that set the robot's arm in motion to cut a ribbon across the bridge with a pair of scissors." ... really? Could of fooled me (they posted no photo of the robot or the queen). I didn't know the Dutch had a queen. Anyways ... nice to see how 3-D printing is coming into it's own but that bridge design fits that environment about as well as a __________ fits a __________.

Cool that they were able to do this, too bad it's that ugly.

Here's an article that has the picture you are looking for:

I don't know if I'd say "ugly", but I definitely agree with doesn't fit the neighborhood.

But, fortunately, it's a temporary bridge, to be used for about 2 years while the normal 'old-skool' bridge is being renovated.
And, it's a living (well, steel I guess) laboratory, based on the article. It's fully wired with sensors to monitor remotely responses to the actual use of the bridge.
Which, not going to lie, is a damn efficient way to implement new tech on a small, and "artistic" way, and also use the implementation as a proof of concept/prototype stage thing.

I like it.

when i think of amsterdam and robots, my brain inevitably thinks of sexbots.

Maxima? Only thing i imagine when i hear that name is this:
