Because you asked for it. Valve with their infinite wisdom has decided to update de_dust2 for CS:GO. With a fresh coat of the paint, the map has been refined to bring the visuals in line with the modern maps. Dark "camping" spots were lit and certain obstacles while not disrupting the original flow of the map. Additionally, the character models for the terrorist side have been upgraded at a higher resolution with more detail.

A number of overly dark spots in Tunnels have been addressed with natural light pouring in by way of a crumbling, torn away roof. The broken down car at the bomb site has also been moved a bit, allowing a more free player flow around it. The break in the wall, 'Window', has now been widened and the movement brushes around it relaxed...

Meanwhile, tf2 is sitting alone on its birthday, crying on the cake.

I'm one of those oddballs who doesn't like playing this game but I love watching it (e-sports minor and major tourneys).

For me the bigger the map pool the better, I wouldn't mind seeing new maps for it still, as new maps means teams having to find new strats etc which makes it more interesting. At least Cobble for me was a very welcomed addition. I haven't seen Dust 2 updated version but the map is quite different from the others, important with awping and fragging power/invidual skill so yea I don't mind seeing it in the map pool for its different nature but I assume this updated version has a few tweaks especially trying to address that. It's one of the good things about CSGO, even after all these years, changes are still made for maps which also makes it interesting for spectators to see how those changes affect the outcome of matches.

Game still has to many damn cheaters.
But enjoyable to play since I don't take it seriously anymore.
    Looking forward to this update.

Now if they could just retool cs_siege and cs_747, I'd be ecstatic.
