I got lucky and am running 2 smp clients on dual 5340's, 2.4GHz
turning 4.5/frame = 3700PPD :)

The 2.66 easily above 4K and with one GPU client should hit the Magic 5K

Specs on the system as well as pics please!!!! Their needs to be a special term refering to boxen that do >2K PPD.

Cost would be a good number too if you have it.

"God Box" seems appropriate.

Is this a mac pro by any chance, or a server/workstation?

I don't see any pics or details yet!!! I am almost there..... :D

supermicro motherboard dual core...works fine with 4 core
4 gig memory and hd.

cost +/- buck a point :D

How about "Marty Boxen" or a "FLECOM Boxen"?

sitting system builders shop for evaluation only...sorry no pics

for pics contact porn mary :D

I imagine that your using about 3GB total memory? VMs seem to take a lot of memory. Also, this is my "wish build"

Total Cost: $2941.63
This is using Google checkout twice on the processors. You might be able to get free shipping using paypal on newegg. That would save about $57.94. Their is also a $30 MIR on the card, so make sure you have a friend help you with these purchases. $2800 bucks roughly for a 5K+ PPD boxen. Not bad.

Sweet merciful crap. How much power does that thing suck from the wall?

I like how that Tyan board ICE9 linked has an "inversed PCI-E x4 slot (w/ x8 signal)". Not sure exactly how that works. And why the JS drives? The KS or RE2s would be much better.

Running linux x64 directly on it? That's some nice PPD you got there...

:insert drooling smiley here:

Keep on Folding!! For the [H]orde!!

That is my want list. I don't own that. Currently waiting on some discounts to kick in so that I can get that at arround $2300. Even then, it's gonna take taxes, bonus, and lots or power to run. I figure that I can go from 4 boxen down to 3 at least then. :D

Nice, looks like you made it there first, your maths a little off though, fixed it for you ;)

and I'll fix yours.

2440 PPD + 2438 PPD= 4878 PPD

.....close.....

Maybe I missed something, but it was originally posted 2477ppd and 2537ppd. Now granted I didn't go back and figure out the points per work unit versus time per frame, but if you did, atleast justify how you came up with two completely random numbers. I figured the math for the originaly ppd was correct and the addition was just wrong.

not really completely random, just right near as I can tell.

I agree with Marty on the maths.
Your close but not there.
Better luck next time.

I remember when 50 PpD was a fast boxen.

Luck .............. :D

Interesting, I get a failed to start because MSVBVM50.DLL was not found whenever I try to run EMCalc, I always wondered what it did. Cool. I thought there was some big math problem you had to do to figure it out, turns out we have a program, what do you know. :)

Mage, you are correct.

Marty, the problem is how you calculated the minutes and seconds, you said 10 min 23 seconds, it was really 10.23 minutes or 10 min. and 13.8 seconds. Zims numbers are correct, he's at 5000ppd.

Congrats!!! Now make me 4 of them for under 1k. :p I still didn't see your max memory usage when it's all running. Also, what PS are you using?

What name are you folding under?

zim needs to post logs, it impossible to get anything 13.8 second readings from long--- the logs are listed in seconds to beging with. How can you get fractional seconds from source in seconds?

Any who don't really matter, I just wanted to give zim a hard time. It's kinda hard to know which way he meant to post the times. Logs/top dump (CPU usage)/mem usage would all be neat info also. Also be nice to know how loaded the memory bus is with these two buggers on them.

Either way, that's a frigging load of PPD action. 110 PPD benchmark machine with SSE off....yikes how warped these things have become. That box is pulling over 200 PPHour! Frigging sweet. Make note these are not publicly available CPU's, 2.4 GHz vs. the publicly available 1.6/1.86.

ND you must be running 2k3 on that box huh.

Well I'm off for a week less Moose will come chase me off again...

It's just easier to convert to decimals for your calculations if you are not using EM Calculator. :)

XP x64, so close enough, same kernel. Haven't had time to mess around with a 64 bit distro on it but I plan to...just a little hard to run SLI in Linux at this point. Plus, which system do you think I play BF2142 on? :p

I'd like to see some screenies of Zim's beast as well, maybe he'll post some Monday morning pr0n for us all.

sweet zombie jeebus! das a lodda points!

A name for such a behemoth of a folding box?
