Dunno. The 34UM95 has been out for almost a year, and when LG starts introducing new products, the prices on their older products start to plummet.
It seems the demand for their flat 34" ultrawides is still far greater than the supply (and probably why street price is still above MSRP), but I'm sure that could easily change pretty quickly once demand starts shifting to the new curved variations.
Most people are still only willing to spend a certain amount on any TV or display, whatever the new tech. LG can certainly ask an insane price of $5k or whatever for the new 34UC97 (if they're happy not selling many). ~$999 to replace the UM95, and it should sell about as well as the UM95 did (which is still way too high for any consumer-grade PC monitor, imo).
The UM95 has only been out for 4 months. Retail availability started in May.
Edit: Actually more like 3... since I don't think it was until late May the monitor showed up for order.
Anyway the 34UC97 could be a ways out from release. It is not uncommon for LG to unveil products that are still a year away from hitting the market.
