Ur-Dragon is an online boss in this game. Everyone fighting the boss collectively contributes damage until it is killed, then massive loot drops. Even participating you get something. Each takes a couple of days.

Anyway playing bitterback island content. you need to do this before post game. The first time around I did after and it just seemed that the enemies were tremendously harder. I also found some good loot, overall the loot is supposed to be better than Ur-Dragon.

Overall the best loot is in BBI, but there are some nice unique looking armor pieces only available if you land the killing blow on the UR-Dragon. I want to get the torso armor from that but I don't think I'll get the chance given how long it takes to kill it. I am not sure if it will drop in offline mode.

One thing that kinda irritates me is the way that the quests have different outcomes. I feel as if I need to read the Wiki to make sure that I get the right item by following a set of rules. I'd have appreciated it if I could just choose my reward or know which way to choose without reading a Wiki.

Other than that the game is fun as hell. :)

farming offline ur-dragon. mainly to upgrade my gear. only 3 possible weapons as a result, no armor or anything else useful. @ level 110. Get him down with my archer, then I leave to BBI and have her switch my gear for the killing blow as a sorcerer. She puts me back on the dock so that speeds the return. For consumables, vim is good, otherwise the best is simply to buy about 200x mushrooms and dessicated herbs from the old lady nearby. I have not noticed anything those can't fix, but I guess my resistances are decent. For sorcerer, I don't know how people play them, I have a hard time targeting anything. Each kill = +1 level.

After you hit the max proficiency level on a vocation, is there anything else to learn? I notice that I got a few more skills at level 50. Do I need to play a class to get the level based skills after I max out the vocation is what I'm trying to ask. Also can I switch to hard for NG+? I say someone mention that there is a NG+ is why I asked.

I'm trying my best to play without spoilers, but at the same time I hate to look stupid because I should have read the damn Wiki. So many games nowadays assumes that the players all watch a playthrough on Youtube before playing. Le sigh.

I have my pawn level as a Sorcerer right now. When I was doing the Knight / Magic shield class she was incredible dps as a Sorcerer. After I stopped buffing her with my spells, she's face down on the ground all the damn time.

I tried using a staff and it's as coherent as trying to play a FPS with a console controller. I play Dragon's Dogma with a mouse and keyboard and can't hit the side of a barn with my Sorcerer. I played the class with a magic bow and that was the most OP thing I've ever seen. I was sniping harpies, crows; anything that flies out of the sky. Can't hit the side of a barn with a staff. ;) And how do you move the fire wall spell from casting 1" in front of you? I swear that when a pawn does it they aren't as close as I have to cast it.

skills are based on vocations, not the general levels. I have played almost all of them except the sorcerer hybrid. It is good seeing what you like, also the augmentations stack between classes so you can boost magic or physical damage.

Note that the vocations each level up differently. most points come from 1 to 10 then 11 to 100 then 101 to 200. Fighters get HP and Str, Striders are mixed, archers focus on stamina, and so forth. I don't think it matters much in the long run, you will be OP regardless of class. But you would not want to start a mage then switch to fighter after the bulk of your points were put into magic. You should probably wiki it.

That being said I wouldn't worry about it too much. Some people like to min/max, but I just play it to have fun.

For NG+ yeah, I would suggest hard mode. The enemies do double damage to you and also your stamina depletes much faster. Still it is worth it (better drops and xp) and you can always switch back if too hard. Starting a game in hard mode will start at the beginning, going back you stay in the same place.

So I can switch to Hard for NG+ even though I'm playing on Normal right now? That's cool! Thanks! For NG+ I just beat the story and it tells me NG+ mode is unlocked?

You could actually start hard mode now. it will restart your game but with all your stuff intact and also all the store/loot drops. The only things that change in NG+ is if you have hard mode enabled, otherwise it remains exactly the same.

The game has a couple of endings. The original and then the Everfall DLC. Everfall is like a series of enemy/boss chambers from which you need to collect wakestones. Once you turn them in that playthrough concludes.

I finally read about the pawn inclinations and adjusted my pawn AI but it didn't seem to work. I neutralized then set it up to be challenger/pioneer so she would stay at range, but she still goes melee *sigh*. I even switch vocations to Ranger, hired a Ranger and healer just to kind of reinforce stay at range, but other than the first couple of times when I was just sniping some nearby monsters, now she is back to getting up close and personal. Behavior wise it still says challenger/pioneer in the stats page. I want to switch her vocation to mage so I am trying to get her to stay at range now.

Anyone else have buggy wyverns/drakes in the game? At least 1 seems completely bugged it like flies up real high then disappears then I see it in the middle of the ocean constantly flying up and down out of range of everything (the one on conquest road). I got to kill it once but it took like 5 tries before it didn't glitch. The most annoying thing was every time it was almost dead. A similar thing happened with 2 others, but after zoning and coming back I was able to beat them without them disappearing though I had to start the fight over with them at full health.

Its not a glitch. they don't want to die. You have a limited period to engage them and then a limited period to kill them. :)

I am not sure where that sucker parks but usually the first thing I notice is shadows on the ground when it is flying away. Putting a crystal there would be good.

For inclinations, pawns tend to follow... you. at least until their knowledge base is set. so whatever you do, they do. Did you do 3 potions? 2 for the primary and then 1 for the secondary?

I know some of the dragons are time limited, but it definitely was not that unless the time period dropped to less than a minute in a couple instances. It happens the most often with the one on conquest road the last time it was about 2-3 minutes before I got the last dot to disappear, then it took off like it was going to do it's normal routine again fly around and try to hit me from the air, but it disappeared then it appeared over the water between where I was and Gran Soren in the backdrop. Slowly going up and down like a tea bag, it hit the water sunk and rose up again high in the sky only to do it again over and over. It won't reset till I zone and then I can try and engage it again but only about 1/5 times does it not glitch for me. Pretty much any dragon outside BBI and the Bluemoon tower glitches from time to time for me.

Yeah I did 4 potions, but it was working sporadically at best. I did Neutralize, Mitigator, Pioneer, Challenger, challenger. So according to the Wiki, I got what I expected in status, but she still seemed to prefer up close as a ranger. I changed her vocation to mage and it seems to be better now but that might be due to not having any real melee weapons. :)

Sweet, I am looking for it also but not actively trying hard to get it. I have the Ring of Dessication so my lantern only goes out a split second if I roll in water then relights automatically. Though having a latern that doesn't go out would give me back another jewelry slot. I didn't know the elite lantern couldn't be put out in water I thought it only made a bigger lighted area.

Every time I switch my vocation I go through a farming period to dragon forge what I am wearing. I am tempted to try a warrior or fighter but I generally just don't like the style of play too much. Hey it's Waifu, I think I hired that character before :).

I am on the fence on what I like better Magic Archer or Ranger. Magic Archer is overall better, but I can't deny that the bow with proper aiming is just so much better for some things, but all I can say is Ricochet and explosive MA bow skills are the absolute best. Things just die so much faster with those MA skills. Playing a mage was fun but it wasn't nearly as fun as a MA. The auto aim of MA is a bit of a nuisance some of the times, but an advantage in the dark when pawns are buffing you and the light is causing havoc with manual aiming cause it obscures your vision.

The lantern only is brighter, I mentioned using the ring, just did not know what it is called. Some of the latter levels it is critical. For farming, I found some easy hacks. Turn off "online" on the property menu. You then can sleep repeatedly with only a saving, not a "connecting" which is long. Makes duping much easier also. In NG+ you get a ur-dragon stone on the beach. Killing the offline version nets 20 wake stones. I must have 350 of them in inventory. You can warp from the arena to BBI and then have her transport you back to the beach. If you participate in the online version you may want to watch the forums to find how rapidly it is dying. When depleted it will go into a grace period where some hearts have one HP each. Destroying them all gets you a set of void armor and other good stuff.

Sorry bought that I must have missed reading the ring part when I read the post :). I haven't tried offline mode yet, the last time I tried it was on the PS3 version in the original non DA version and I was not happy with the selection of pawns at the time so I never bothered on the PC version.

I just noticed, I have not refilled my lantern for several days now ever since I got the ring of dessication. Is this a bug or a feature of this combo? I think the last time I refilled it was last weekend .

I have tried playing a Warrior in this game and wow I have to say they seem so lacking. They are good damage wise, but the lack of any range moves makes them limited and difficult to really play especially with the BBI boss. The the lack of blocking or any kind of dodging skill is really problematic for any boss fights. There is only one real semi-dodge counter move but it takes up a slot but even with that minor move it seems that I have to heal after any 3 consecutive hits or I die. I also feel like they messed up the class by limiting their move set to only 3. This class should really have been the only melee class that was capable of having 6 melee skills. This class is so dependent on the pawns, it was quite funny trying to fight a dragon that was flying around and the pawns telling me to bring it down from the sky when one of them has a bow on it's back and I have no range skills at all lol. Though interesting note I felt I did the most damage with my warrior to Death than any other character class I played but he still constantly wipes my party out and is a real pain in the rear. I still haven't taken him out. I think every time you kill the BBI boss his HP goes back to full. But fighting the final BBI boss was insanity. You only have one option and honestly I don't think it fits with the class cause of the 2 handed weapon you hold.

I still haven't finished my first time through and I still like the game it's really weird and it's now my #1 longest played game. I want a sequel to be announced so badly now. Capcom needs to dump Street Fighter and make more of this. ;)

The warriors are just satisfying the way they swing their sword around. But yeah, I have not tried killing Damien or Death with one. The warrior pawns I get don't seem to do much. Death is about learning to get out of range or behind him when he does his lantern thing. For Damien the way to go is to climb him, especially the second form. The warrior class seems strange doing that, with pommel strikes and such.

Dragon's Dogma was one of my favorite games and imo it's one of the best action-rpg games.

It's like a mix of Shadow of the Colossus with rpg elements and a unique pawn system.

The combat and fighting is (imo) the best in an action rpg game, and I wish more games would borrow it's system rather then the other styles they tend to. Final fantasy XV for instance would have been 10x more fun (at least going by the demo) if its combat was like Dragon's Dogma.

If you like exploring, combat, etc and you don't mind a story that's cliche then I'd highly recommend it, at that price it's a steal.

the mystic archer can decimate pretty much everything, except the cursed dragons take some work. and polonyc2, if you want to use a high level mage pawn (healing) you can add me to steam (jiminator) and you will get a bit of an easy mode.

I kinda cheesed it. Started off on normal difficulty and then reset the story. This allows you to keep your gear. Then did hard mode with better starter gear. The beginning on hard with peon gear is a grind as the mobs have too much health just outside the starter zone. After you get some decent drops the game is still challenging, and a lot more fun. ;)

Now if you just didn't like the game that's fine too. Not every game is for everyone.

Loved the game, it's one of the few I actually NG+. The enemies didn't really have a ton of HP, they had specific weak spots and some an order to attack to take it down easier. If you just started hacking away at them randomly then it would take forever to beat them at lower levels. To me that was the major draw of the game. You (and your pawn) actually had to learn how to fight each different enemy type or it was like you did no damage.

It's very different from Dark Souls, really.. I think you will like it though. It has a very free-feeling control system that is a breath of fresh air after playing BB or DS (no offense to those games, it's just different.)
