Dragon Age Origins discussion...

for the PC, it's absolute gold and it was made for PC first and foremost, you'll get more of a full experience playing it on a PC. It's not a game I think i'd like playing on a console, but to be fair, I haven't tried playing Mass Effect or this game on console, so I can't say from firsthand experience.

Well I'm building a new pc in a few days. Maybe i'll see if I can find a good BF deal on it and just take the 360 version back.

return the 360 version and put that cash towards your PC, now there's a thought

but you will definitely like it on PC, I guarantee it.

I credit my mastery of Coercion and my 32 in Cunning for getting you to see things my way :p

at least I didn't do something like

(Intimidate) Don't you think it's wiser to just do what I said?

Ok I'm convinced. I'll be takin it back tomorrow.

If your store (like most) won't take returns for an opened game you are better off selling it via Ebay/the forums rather then trading it in where you'll get no where near what you'd get via the other means.

Since this is the dragon age discussion I was hoping I could get some opinions. I bought this game today on black friday for 35 bucks for the 360. I also got halo3 and left for dead 2. I'm considering taking back dragon age since I have a lot of other stuff to play and not sure if I'll get into it. Is it worth holding on to for 35 bucks?

if you think you'll ever decide to play it, yes

Shale DLC is $15 and comes free with current copies of Dragon Age. it won't come free with later copies of Dragon Age.

Holy smoke is this game multi-core optimized. Q6600 beating dual cores that are 1ghz faster. I'm shocked. All I can say though is it's about time a game truly utilizes quad cores.

Has anyone successfully tapped Morrigan, Liliana, and Zervon?
Playing a female, I was well on my way with Leliana :) when I decided to try another character, not realising it would delete my main one.
Arse.

lol I love being evil sometimes...

I got jumped, and one surviving bandit asked me not to kill him.. (not zevron) I said he can live if he gave me info. He gave it to me and said "You're gonna let me live like you said right?" I said.. "Oops I lied". LOL

"What's the password?"
-"Hmm what was it again, oh yeah.. DIE SCUM!"

Also @ Nenu, what are you talking about? Starting a new character won't delete your first character, you can switch between them when you load save from main menu.

hang on, you can do the lesbo thing??

I'm a male mage, got her to +100, and gifted her with everything special. So far no tappage.

Damn im a male.. duh. But also ingame lol, I got Morrigan pretty early maybe around 50 or so. Maybe it's because my avatar looks just like me?

Getting them to 100 isn't the only requirement, you have to pick very specific choices at certain points in the dialogue, which only appear at certain levels on the mood meter.

Leliana is pretty easy to bed if you gift her a few nice things, then do her personal quest. The dialogue choices make all the difference though.

I actually pulled off a 4 way with the girl from the brothel. Zev, Lel, her and myself. Pity they don't show anything though. ;)

Where do you get her personal quest? I always got big approval from her on every convo, and gave her the flowers and the pet.

A damn 4 way? Jesus christ lol

Yep, they don't show it and it's VERY hard to pull off, but it can be done.

Zev willl sleep with anyone, so will Lelianna, and so will the Duelist in the brothel.

Getting all the approvals set up is the biggest pain because Leliana gets jealous VERY easily.

There should have been an achievement for it for how hard it was. Thankfully I have a save just before I went and did it so I can do it over and over LOL.

She can be tough. You may need to break up with her very gently. You only get your personal quest when your approval is around 50-70 if i remember correctly. if it goes higher you wont get the personal quest. once you do the personal quest, i leave it to you, to figure out how to get into her knickers.

you guys are aware that sex in real life is better than anything in a video game, right?

Oh very much so, but when your wife cuts you off cold for over a year, and you can't afford a divorce, you make do. :(

There are 4 achievements (I believe) in game for romancing Allistair, Leliana, Morrigan and Zhevran.

The 4 way "should" have one as well I think.

Here's a profile link with all the PC Achievements completed. Took me 2 full plays and the start of a 3rd to get em all.

You've heard of pornography, yes? While you're at it, why don't you go browse porn forums and tell them all that they should get a wife? I figure that since you claim to have a girlfriend, you must have better things to put people down on a forum.

I figured it out - botched a convo line at one point, so I'm perma-friend zoned.

I went for morrigan - that was easy. I'll get lily on the next run.

ok, my first "Fuck you Bioware, that's lame" moment.

***SPOILER ALERT!!!!****************8

They've got one of the good ol' "Gotta Fail to proceed" fights. Namely, the one with Ser Catherwhatsherass after saving the queen. I've tried on every difficulty, with every tactic I've ever used a good 30 times, and there's no way to beat her and those archers. Simply too many arrows - any spell I cast gets disrupted, and I've got full combat mastery to avoid that. Hell, I've even spammed fireballs like mad on all the archers - she still goes through my tank in 3 swings, and Wynne can't keep the heals up, even with me alternating in and helping (and chugging mana potions like a frat boy on cheap beer). Seems like the only way around it is to surrender and go through the jail quest. The only way to know you have to take that path is to die in the fight a bunch.

Lame. Let me actually have valid choices, devs - you break the suspension of disbelief if I can't choose to keep fighting my way out of something, and have to surrender suddenly.

Anyone managed to win that fight? I'm considering engaging a cheat code, just to see if they coded in a "win" scenario or not.

Um that fight is impossible to win. You don't have to surrender. The game's not over when you die. You still get taken to jail.

Ser Cauthrien? lol... I actually killed her on my second attempt. I guess I can understand how it'd be hard. My tank (Alistair) did pretty good and Wynne always kinda sucked when it came to healing cause she'd always be OOM. Morrigan was set to controller mode with paralyze and sleep, etc. I on the other hand just went apeshit on the archers as a rogue, took them all out, then buffed up, full attack speed, poisons, marked her as target, etc. Worked her right into the ground. Combat stealth works great for a quick aggro reset too.

yeah, but the jail quests are gayer than a 3some with Sten, Zelyan, and Allistar!

Serios - I hate stuff like that. Cheesy++. I tried them, but when you have to fight with 1/2 your team at most, and it's 2 characters that you don't normally control (and therefore have ~zero~ idea how to use - I only control my mage, otehr than placement sometimes, and just build good tactic sets) you're kinda s.c.r.e.w.e.d.

I brought the wrong tank. Was thinking story too much ("there's no way anyone will believe that Shale or Allister is a guard..."). I admit it - I engaged a cheat code, beat the fight, and went back to normal mode. Screw that fight.
