Downgrading from High End. Need some cheap recommendations.

This year has been tough for me financially.

I'm selling my HD 650's as well as my tube amp to downgrade to something else.


I was thinking about getting some in ear buds (something like the Sennhieser CX500s)

as well as either a standalone HTIB setup or maybe a couple of powered monitors


I was looking at the logitech Z-5500 but I don't think I'd like them very much after the few setups I've had.


Before I went to my 650's and amp I used a pair of Axiom M3 bookshelf speakers and a panasonic XR-55 receiver.

I know whatever I get probably won't be as good as what I have now or what I've had in the past but I really have no options at this point.


Does getting a pair of CX-500 ear buds and using them hooked directly with my soundcard (no amp) sound like a good idea to anyone?


Can anyone suggest a pair of inexpensive (less than $200) pair of powered studio monitors or HTIB setup that wouldn't be too disappointing for listening to music and watching movies? I guess mids should be important (most cheap speakers are all highs and boomy bass from what I've heard)


I appreciate any advice anyone has.

A refurbed or used Onkyo 780/790 would be good htib solution for you.
