I started using iTunes to edit the ID3 tags on my songs, just because it is so efficient at the task. I just noticed the other day, that whenever I import my music into the iTunes library, there are double entries of almost every song. I know for a fact that I don't have two of each song on my hard drive. What is going on?

That's odd. Do you get doubles of the songs when you import new ones, or what?

One easy workaround is to delete the iTunes Library files and rebuild them by importing the music again.

If you convert the songs to a different format (say mp3 to Apple Lossless) it will not delete the older format. If you're getting tunes from a folder other then your home folder, iTunes will copy them to your music folder making second copies. I suggest you delete the iTunes library file and the .xml file in your music folder. Then add to library from your music folder and do not let the app to search for media files.
