The back and forth "I know you are but what am I?" continues between Kim Dotcom and team MPAA-RIAA. Listening to both sides rant about each other is comedy gold. :p

In a submission to the U.S. Copyright Tzar the MPAA and RIAA characterized Kim Dotcom and his colleagues as manipulative, “wealthy and arrogant.” According to the MegaUpload founder this language is a sign of weakness. “There is no need to sway public opinion because everyone can see how the MPAA and RIAA are corrupting the system by infiltrating their own people into key government positions,” he says.

Yes, because government corruption was invented in our lifetime. MPAA/RIAA just makes it more obvious than it already was.

The MPAA-RIAA didn't corrupt our Government. That happened long ago. We can thank Reaganomics for that, thank you very much.

Don't you dare mess with or talk down about ma Murica! We're the good guys remember, the rest are terrorist scum, including those there pirates (pirates?).

Seriously though, the government is based on fear and force. It's getting bigger thus of course worse but it's always been corrupt. Government = corruption (on every single measurable level).

Honestly, I hope fatman gets his money back. Just because.

I hope fatman gets his money back, succeeds in his new business plan with recording artists, continues living his lifestyle and continues thumbing his nose at the MPAA/RIAA <-> US government.

I just love how the longer this goes on, the more publicity it gets. The level of corruption between the MPAA/RIAA and the government is fucking out of control.

Ha. Government corruption goes back a great deal farther than that. The US government has always been beholden to wealthy interests. Most US Civics textbooks have a chapter about the smoke-filled rooms of politics.

If they get their way eventually it'll be a federal crime to copy anything or download something that was copied. So if police search your house find a copy of something you paid for you could get put in prison.

According to Dotcom the public has an important role to play in turning this case in favor of Megaupload. Voting Obama out of office is a good start, as he is in the pockets of the MPAA and RIAA.
Dotcom is confused if he thinks that any other president will not throw his/her support behind IP enforcement. Officials become elected with industry money, they won't just turn around and say that it's OK to fileshare. Seriously ...

What's really funny, is that both sides are correct. At least in respects to Dotcom being a wealthy, arrogant, manipulative, ass, and the RIAA/MPAA's, adding to the corruption of, and infiltration into, the US government.

It's like watching two people you don't like beating each other.

Hopefully somehow this ends both of them :D

Corrupted the US gov? He's kinda stating the obvious, but the RIAA/MPAA is not the only industry responsible for the corrupt bribes-based system we have in place right now.

What i don't really get is how it's still going on. EVERYONE knows how fucked it is. Each rolling stone that gets printed has an article about these fuckin pricks who are above the government. Yet, even with all this publicity and knowledge, at the end of the day nothing is changed. If knowledge isn't enough, what is?

armed revolution?

Unrelated to MU controversy, Kim Dotcom gets zero credibility in my book. He's a douchebag that throughout his business career has exploited people and extorted money wherever he could for his own personal and financial gains. It's the pot calling the kettle black as far as I'm concerned. Hey Kim, it's a bitch when it happens to you, huh?

So you mean he copied the elite and governments own playbook?

Whats so new about this? Corps do it with the EPA to get restrictions removed or make it harder to impose restrictions down the road. Been happening for a very long time.

"Corporations are people too my friend", and they have far more money and influence than the voters.

I'm just surprised no corporation has made the argument they should be allowed to vote. Why all the discrimination? We're people too!

Because they can buy the vote. And it is not like it matters which slug wins in a political race, they simply bribe the winning slug. They have all the voting power they need.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable. - John F. Kennedy

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security declaration of independence.

see? i can quote things too.

Nothing could be less true.

The corruption in our government can be traced back to the reversal of the bust up of the baby bells. Ignoring anti-trust and anti-competitive practices and the government regulators and compaign committees coming in to get slice of the action is when it reached a new low. That started during Bush I. Perfected by Clinton. Continued by the rest.

 Read a history book, and stop repeating mindless liberal propaganda.

My history book says FDR and Wilson sat in their office and snapped his fingers and Germany and Japan surrendered. They were heroes. LBJ snapped his fingers and boom, we're safely out of Vietnam. He was a hero. Teddy Roosevelt rode with the cavalry with his big stick and kicked ass, he was a hero. Reagan snapped his finger and Noriega was arrested. He was a hero.

I don't remember reading about FDR being a socialist hack for imposing government regulations on banks and businesses, or that Reagan raised the national debt to unprecedented levels or Bill getting blow jobs from interns. :p

The corruption in our government goes back a lot further. At the very least, it goes back to the lobbyists descending on Washington in 1913. (income taxes)

Perhaps it goes back even further. I am going to go out on a limb and say that, where there is money and slugs(politicians), there is corruption.
