Does X-Fi CMSS interfere with true 5.1 sources?

Question:

In "Game Mode", say I have CMSS enabled while listening to some music.

Then I fire up a game that supports full 5.1 channel surround. Is the CMSS "feature" temporarily disabled when there's a true 5.1 source?

I found it has no effect on gaming sounds (when my X-Fi worked!).
Same with my Audigy 4, so it should be ok.

No it does not change 5.1 sources.

Thanks for the link and other responses. So it seems as though 5.1 sources are a direct passthrough and are not upmixed or altered by CMSS. Maybe I'll test with a DVD later for shits and giggles.

Yes 5.1 DVD audio can be passthrough if you are using optical, it will be processed into analogue if using analogue out.
Be sure to set the options in the Creative drivers for AC3 sound processing.

PC gaming sound is processed but isnt using the CMSS codepath.
