I don't know if this question has been asked before but I am surprised that I cannot find any information on this topic in any U3011 reviews posted online.

Does anyone know if U3011 deinterlace 1080i?
And how well does it display 1080i video?

Thanks.

Chris,

Thanks for the info.

My current monitor HP L2335 can also playback 1080i video but without de-interlacing. Its user manual also shows 1080i as an supported input just like the Dell web site. I am afraid to buy a U3011 but only to learn it does not de-interlace 1080i video.

Okay. If the older the older 3008WPF supports de-interlacing, there good chance U3011 also does.

Thanks.

Okay. I received my new Dell U3011 (rev A03) this past Friday.

After connecting it to my DishNetwork VIP722 DVR, I confirm that U3011 does deinterlace 1080i video nicely. In fact, 1080i video playback on U3011 is slightly better than my old 32" Sharp Aquo TV which is connected to another VIP722 in my living room.

The only thing I do not like about U3011 is that it does not have PIP which would allow me to watch TV while doing work on my PC. I will have to get a cheap portable TV for that. U3011 has PBP but that is a pretty useless feature IMO.

Are there any LCD monitors that can take a 1080i signal without deinterlacing? I don't think any LCD panels can do native interlaced video. Some deinterlace better than others, but the circuitry has to refresh all 1080 lines at once.

My old HP L2335 monitor playback 1080i video without deinterlacing.
The result is not pretty because moving objects (even during slow motion) all show interlacing artifacts (a.k.a combing effects).

I don't know why you would want to see 1080i video without deinterlacing unless you have a CRT monitor.
