Does converting a logical/extended partition to a primary partition lose data?

Does converting a logical drive to a primary partition cause the loss of data? I want to dual-boot xp and vista, and it appears when i created additional partitions i made it a logical drive rather than a Primary partition. I have data on here that I cannot lose, so would like to know, thanks!
