Does anyone use Armoury Crate on their ASUS motherboard desktop?

Yup. If it you close the install program, it creates a little OS autorun program in the Windows folder that sticks around, too. You can't even delete it. To totally rid yourself of it, you have to disable it in the BIOS.

I still don't think that auto-install/disable option should be in the BIOS...it should be an optional download from the motherboard disc or the manufacturer website

I agree. I was just telling you what it does now. :) It's insidious.

Asus isn't the only manufacturer that does this. Gigabyte and MSI both have the same "feature" just with their own software. But my experience is that they are somewhat less intrusive than Armoury Crate.

I also hear that once that Armoury Crate software is installed on your system it's tough to completely remove...a lot of people probably unknowingly have it installed because they don't know to disable it in the BIOS immediately before loading into Windows the first time

Revo Uninstaller will get rid of it.

Yup, Revo will get it. If you don't have Revo, you have to dig around in your Windows folder and there's a specific DLL that you have to delete. Thanks to Asus's service autostart, you have to stop a bunch of things first, too. Once you finally delete that DLL, you can purge all of the ASUS folders for good and kill off the autostart so that it never comes back.
I haven't used MSI Dragon Center in a couple years, but I never had to do anything like that in the past - It was all optional.

I install it every few weeks or so to check for driver updates which is does quite well. But that's about it.

Does fanxpert work for anyone? It just says to install webview, then takes me to a page showing it's already installed.

Which is one very good reason to avoid Armoury Crate completely.

Armory Crate is horrible. Friends don't let friends install asus armory crate. It killed my dog, stole my wife, and cost me my job.
(ok I'm exaggerating a little but avoid it like the plague lol)
Stole your wife????

Damm! I may have to install it and see if my wife gets stolen! That would be a shame :p

Go to ASUS support downloads, you can find an Armory Crate uninstaller. I had that crap installed from a prior asus mobo.. went to uninstall it, the uninstall failed. The uninstaller tool from ASUS worked.

If I build or rebuild a machine for a customer I always make sure its switched off in BIOS. I also refuse to sort out RGB for customers as it can take hours and you never get it right for them.

RGB is cancer as far as I am concerned.

Some cancers can be cured with radiation or chemotherapy.
