Does anyone know of any upcoming Trinity models?

I'm looking for a ~4lbs portable laptop that's capable of some light gaming at med/low standard 1366x768 resolution.

I'm looking to spend upwards of $700.

Battery life is top a priority. I'd like to be able to use it for 6hrs without a charge.

Ultrabook/Ultrathin or even sturdy plastic construction (Thinkpad-ish) is fine.

I'm planning to use this thing roughly 6-8 hours a day on and off the wall so the battery will need replacing. I'd like to add an SSD as well.

Planning to dual boot Linux.

I don't favor AMD nor Intel but considering the most intensive thing I'd do is gaming I'd like to use leverage the Trinity igp + battery life benefits. Most of the 14"/13.3" form factors are Intel unless I opt to go with a Brazos (which I don't want), so I'm left wondering if there are any upcoming AMD Trinity chips, A10/A8's, that might fit the bill.

Here are some Intel options I'm currently considering:

Lenovo Thinkpad e430 with an IB i5 chip at 14" from Lenovo store comes out to under $600. While at just under 5lbs, it's sitting at the top of my list.

This, while the right processor, is too expensive for the hardware. Single RAM stick with a 4-cell battery is crap since I can find an i5 Ultrabook with SSD and a better battery for roughly the same price.

The envy sleekbook suffers from the same problems. It has a single stick of DDR1600 on a processor that only supports 1333, unibody construction that's going to be a pita to add another stick/SSD. It's only available in the 15.6" flavor, though light and thin, is too long and thus not much different in size than a full-bodied 13.3" like the Asus laptop above.

So is anyone in the loop? Will an envy 14" Trinity laptop be offered? Or are there any IB i3's and i5's A8's or A10's in the 14"/13.3" size that offer great battery life and are priced under $700?

Yea, an SB i3 ULV w/o turbo might be painful.

I guess I'll keep waiting until something comes along or end up grabbing that Thinkpad E430. I'm really hoping for a dv4/envy 4 Trinity option, though. Or maybe just some slightly more sane hardware on the sleekbook 15.6"

AMD is claiming up to 8 hours of straight web browsing with the new Trinity APUs, a particularly impressive figure and one we will definitely be testing once we have some Trinity-toting hardware to play with. So far the only two pieces of kit Pocket-lint has seen with Trinity inside have been a Toshiba Portege Z835 laptop - which was an empty demo shell at the time - and the HP Envy sleekbook, which appeared last week in Shanghai.

Looks like it might be a matter of just sitting tight and waiting for the right laptop configuration to come along for the right price.

Based on the 6 hours of fairly intensive usage on my DV7 today, I can see 8 hours straight being doable.

I think the biggest issue I'll have is waiting it out to see the Trinity models.

Toshiba has very good build quality. I currently own a Toshiba Satellite, and while not a top of the line model, it's got a nice aluminum shell on the outside of the display and has been used and abused for a year with no problems whatsoever.

The problem I'm having is that some of the IB models currently available look awesome

review on that Sony Ultrabook.

I'd be perfectly content with an A10-4600m in that Protege or Thinkpad or Sony E-series but it seems the OEMs are still completely silent.

Maybe they are waiting for more success stories? I remember when I started looking for a Phenom II laptop, the CPUs came out in May 2010, but I didn't see anyone with the P920 (4x1.6ghz) until August and then it was only the Dell M5010 (which I got) or a HP Pavilion.

After playing with it some more:

Diablo III @ 1600x900 on High everything - Smooth
Civilization V @ 1600x900 on High everything - Smooth
Left 4 Dead 2 @ 1600x900 on High/Very High everything - Smooth

That's on your DV7?
Yup.

I should note Civ 5 later in the game when there are a ton of tile enhancements it does get a little slow at 1600x900 on High. But other than that, Diablo 3 was silky smooth even in Act IV where I am now.

I should also note I had to download June 12th Beta/Alpha Windows 8 Preview Catalyst drivers in order to get OpenCL support in Windows 8 as the built in Windows 8 drivers do not come with any.
