there is a manufacturer by the name of CH Product, the USB based joystick is made in USA. But this co. hasn't make any new product for over 1 + decades. Their website has n't been updated for years. But the joystick is USB based. What would be the problems if this joystick is used on modern day games under win 10?

probably just no analog support, if it's an analog controller, or not being able to re-map buttons.
My 15 year old Xbox 360 controller works fine in Windows 10 btw.

there's a distinct possibility that it won't work, because MS switched to Xinput devices vs the older DirectInput. I had a joystick that was from that era the just was simply not recognized anymore.

You can try it, no harm there.

Windows 10 still supports DirectInput, but it's limited compared to what it once was. Not as badly as XInput, but having support for something crazy like 8 axes and 30 buttons is no longer possible as far as I'm aware.

well damn guys, I'll have to re-visit that. I had a bug up my ass to play the old MS Combat Flight Simulator 3 a few years ago and my sidewinder precision 2 didn't work

edit: Looks like I forgot to send in my staples rebate for the game. Oh well....

I have a Belkin Nostromo n45 that I used to play GTA Vice City on PC with when it was a new title. Works just fine to this day.

I haven't bought any win 10 based game yet. So I can't try it first. I need to know the total budget on joystick and games.

https://www.newegg.com/black-thrust...ick&cm_re=joystick-_-0H0-002Z-00001-_-Product

For e.g., is this $389 Thrustmaster A10C joystick really heavy enough that it won't tip over? my current joystick is light, so I need to hold the base from tipping over.

As well, can it be use for all purpose joystick instead of a flight stick as in flight simulator only? why is the description says flight stick but it looks very much like it can be used as a all purpose joystick?

Just plug the damn joystick in and see if it works or not. It's either going to work the way you want or it won't but you're not going to know until you PLUG IT IN.

Either that or simply admit you want a new joystick and buy one.

i have some ch products USB joysticks, i bought them in 2012 and they work just fine. just plug and play.

the only time you would have issues is when trying to use it on a game that only support xinput devices, i.e. xbox controllers and similar knock offs. but you'll have that problem using any non-xinput device, not just ch products.

are you kidding? Where are you going to mount the plate? on a desk? or on a block of wood? because my desk is $2K

and if it's on a block of wood, then the wood can move. Unless you mount it on a bulk of heavy wood. But that will look dumb when you're not using it, where are you going to put that giant paper wt.

And I can't clamp it neither. As the edge of my desk is at least 3 in. thick, and it edges outward. It's a Queen's Anne Oval table

this is my desk

Happy Hopping, I have been playing around with MSFS2020 and began building a Flight Velocity panel with Logitech Flight Instruments.

I found that though the software said it supported Windows 10, that I had to search for the Windows 7/8 original driver and install it first so that the panel would run in Win 10 (which it does well!).

As to mounting the joystick, if you search the flight sim forums you will probably find a mounting system that will work for you.

Good luck!

I think I bought my one before 2012. It's not a flight stick, it's an all purpose joystick

Anyhoo, do you remember the old Flight Simulator Pro Stick from CH Product? it's a white / beige color based stick. That stick needs to go to a ISA slot at the back of a PC. Is there a converter / adapter that can convert the pins at the back of these CH product flight stick to USB?

pppffft 2k desks are disposable. get a new one.
that is the type of controller where you are building a dedicated setup. its not a pick it up and use it twice a month sidewinder stick.

there is a good forum about ch products here at the DCS forum:

https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/304-ch-products/

i've seen people discuss re-wiring gameport controllers to usb there so i know it's possible, but i have no idea how involved it is.

God I had that, bought it for Mechwarrior 4 and it's other 2 games but never got into it, preferred using the PS2 style Logitech rumble pad 2.
Actually I think I had the non force feedback one.
