Do YOU have Problems with YOUR RTX card?

Just assuming your house burned down by now.

Not yet, I did some load testing with it with my case sealed. Haven't really had the time to game with it lately.

After less than ten minutes the 2080Ti Black hit 82c, under load in GPU-Z and that was with the fans at a much higher ramp. The card's fans were at 80%, temperatures had not leveled off yet. I killed the test, had stuff to do. Can't really afford the house fire...

I kicked the fan profile higher in OC Precision, set it to have the fans sit at 50% at 40c, 60 at 50, 70 at 60, 90 at 70, and 100% for 80c. This thing really lights up under load when my mid tower is buttoned up.

The big annoyance for me is the screen flickering, this happens randomly no matter what I'm doing. I have noticed some odd artifacting in Battletech, but I can't even play that game long enough stably to do any real analysis. Damn game has been crashing after 1.3 came out and I'm starting to think it's the 2080Ti. My 1080Ti was a helluva lot more stable when I was running the game. I need to toss the old card in my front room rig and check it out. If it works and its stable, I am FurMarking the shit out of the 2080Ti and I will have a fire extinguisher handy.

You either have a bad driver install or the card is faulty and based on the failed cards your likely looking at a bad card.

I want to take your world for it, but I'm not the only one in the Bug Reports section for the Battletech game that's having the same issues. I get rendering hangs at random where the game engine continues, but the game does not crash and the screen remains frozen. I pulled all other sound card devices out other than my Creative Labs card, but that didn't help. I need to test it on my other systems.

I am inclined to agree with you about the screen flickering though. I think it's got a foot in the grave and I need to talk to EVGA about this pronto.

I shot EVGA a support ticket with all the information I had and a list of the issues and instability I've experienced. We shall find out what they say. I will see about putting some severe FurMark loading on it tonight and see if I can get the 2080Ti to shit the bed.

I know I was just hoping for a non "test escapes" board but... I knew full well what I was walking into because of the experiences here on [H]. One would think that a card released over a month after launch wouldn't have the same issues but something is rotten in this GPU release.

The price hike reminds me what my ethics study of Eli Lilli pharma came up with. Them releasing drugs into the wild that they knew killed people , yet released them anyway because the profits we're higher than the lawsuits.

Just tested Battletech to be Rock solid and stable on my laptop with a 1050 GTX ... That's pretty much all the answer I needed to get that RMA rolling. If it runs on my laptop solid, with realtek sound... Yeah. It's the damn 2080Ti

I'm unable to replicate the full Space Invaders look with my 2080 Ti, which is sorta disappointing. I also never had my card flat out die, as I could always do a hard reboot and everything would POST and boot normally as long as I didn't stress the card too much.

Nvidia was lightning quick with RMA and I have a brand new card in hand via Priority Overnight Fedex.. Samsung VRAM.

I had a moment on my lunch hour, I just Furmarked it at 4K for exactly 40 minutes. Artifacting started at 78c, I counted 61 graphical errors that I could see and they were big ones... I am going to update my support ticket with EVGA and see if they will send me another card.

Honestly, I don't think any of us are lucky this generation. I think it's just a matter of time before all of these cards fail.

I had to see it to believe it. I love the fact it will do 80+ FPS in 4k but... Might just return the damn thing for a refund. My 1080Ti does just fine at 4k. I bet Nvidia comes out with a fixed 7nm version right about the time AMD drops their new 7nm lineup .

IDK ... I might RMA it and see if the silicon lottery does me a solid, but after reading all the articles here and seeing it first hand. lol

If you can make it though, let's say the first 2 weeks with no problems, I think the card will be good.

Will take months and months of use to really see and depends on what is causing the failures, personally I think they released defective processors. Getting bad RMA's is not a good sign things are well, so no doubt this generation has a much higher failure rate, just remains to be seen if all of them will die or just some.

But we can look at history and see that we've not had an entire generation of a video card release die. It would be unprecedented.

Yeah, I'm still waiting on the EVGA response. I swapped in my 1080Ti and "magically" all my problems disappeared... I don't know guys, I can't use the Force and see the future but I'm seriously having my doubts about this generation at the moment. A card (my black non FE) that was released over a month after the initial batch of FE cards went out with test escapes... How the hell does it, too suffer from this malady? Maybe it was already sitting in EVGA stock built off of the initial hardware, however, I'm kind of thinking the sales from the initial FE release was a test like most products to gauge demand. Then they ordered more and started pumping out different models. Who the hell knows...

I will let you know what happens when EVGA gets back to me.

And I have had an experience with VRAM going bad well after purchase (I may have had the card for a year or two, can't remember the model). So that can certainly happen.

My point was that in this situation, we are seeing cards fail immediately, and people with working cards have been working for 1 month. So I feel like the cards will survive, but who knows?

I went through four defective cards until I gave up.

My last one was an Evga 2080ti. I called evga tech support just on the off chance they had some fix that hadn’t made the rounds. (I have an associates in computer programming and a boat load of certifications and haven’t called tech support for ANYTHING in over 15 years)

The conversation basically went like this:

Me: <explained issues card exhibited>

Rep: what card did you say this was?

Me: 2080ti Xc.

Rep: ohh.... well let’s do an advanced RMA.

Me: you don’t want to troubleshoot?

Rep: let’s just RMA.

Me: I’ll just return to retailer. Just hoped this might be a known issue.

He didn’t say anything back to that. Just kind of quiet and then have a nice day.

The guy’s tone of voice came across as exhausted and exasperated. Like this is just standard procedure when he heard 2080ti.

I suspect this is going to turn out exactly like the Xbox red ring of death situation. Basically, there is a massive chance the hardware will brick one day. Could be tomorrow, could be next year. Just like the Xbox.

Well, I bought it from EVGA directly. So, I have to deal with them.

I'm in the process of an Advanced RMA at the moment. Been pretty painless so far, what boggles the hell out of me is why I would have to upload an invoice to them of the same damn invoice that's linked to my account.... Because I bought it from them... lol!

I don't really expect my experience will differ much from yours, who knows. I will test the shit out of the replacement and post my findings. About the best I can do. Maybe something I notice will help someone here. The [H] has been helping me make informed decisions on hardware purchases for a really damn long time now. I have been a voyeur of the site for way too long, time to be a part of it. If that means playing with expensive and possibly defective tech, so be it.

I'm just waiting for the step 2 emails to pop so I can set up the cross ship.

The "bathtub effect". X = time of ownership, Y = failure rates. If you plot and trend, the line will look like a bathtub. This is very, very common failure trend in regard to electronics and supports your statement about the cards that have been working for a month or more.

I only paid 999 for it + next day shipping. Since i'm in bed with Satnvidia ... I extended the warranty for 30 bucks and then kicked EVGA another 50 so I get next day, Saturday deliveries for any RMA issues. On top of that I'm paying to send the flawed card back.

If my experience mirrors others who have had issues here, EVGA and I will have some words about the return shipping.

I joined the failed 2080ti club. TBH, I really wish I got space invaders as my failure, instead games fail to load and system rebooted. The most artifacting I got was a line on the screen about 2 pixels high and covering the whole width.

Popped in my other card and everything works fine so definitely the card died.

It didn't even die for a legit good reason. I simply jumped in Vermintide 2 to test out the new dlc and was checking out the new/old map and then boom. Not even 5 mins in. I did a 3 hr session last night with not problems. It still loads windows, but can't do anything 3d with it. 3d apps fail to load/may crash or cause reboot. I wanted a space invaders screen shot lol.

Maybe try dialing back the overclock. I know on my system the 2080 Ti didn't like my memory at 4133 (even though it is the XMP setting, and worked fine with GTX 1080).

I had luck with setting memory to stock 2133, ran stable for about a week, then I enabled XMP again but with a slight voltage bump and now things have been rock solid.

I talked to EVGA about the return shipping. Apparently, I'm retarded , if I had waited for the RMA to arrive... there is a free shipping label in the replacement product... Now the documentation they give you, however, when you file the advanced return clearly states that you're responsible for shipping. I think the problem was, I had a retarded moment when I didn't read all the terms in the EAR program.

That would be a real bastard if that was/is the case. What I want to know is what about the Turing cards? Their Quadro lineup... How many of their full on professional cards are running on flawed silicon this generation?
