I'm curious who here actually finishes most the SP games you have. I have so many that I never get around to finishing or aren't motived to. I even feel guilty sometimes since I paid good money for them.. oh well..

Recent(ish) games I actually finished:

COD4 (done with this one, great game!)
HL2, EP1, EP2
Portal
Crysis
Prey
Riddick
Doom 3 + add on

Games I still need to finish:

Stalker
Bioshock
Fear
Q4
Oblivion (hell I need to at least play more than 2 hours of it)

and that doesn't even include all the 360 ones I haven't finished :(

I pretty much finish them all in due time. I might not go through a game in one fell swoop, particularly if I'm working on multiple games, but I do try to finish every game I start no matter how crappy it might be.

Last game I finished, Final Fantasy VIII on my PS1, LOL freaking sad I never finished HL2!!!

I still need to finish Stalker. But that's about it. I started it twice. The first time, I really didn't like it. I started to like it the second time time through....then I did a format C and forgot to backup my save games (I hate where stalker stores save-games) So, I'm going to wait until I finish Crysis to start up stalker again. With my schedule, that has me set up for the next 4 months at least. I have Bioshock sitting on the shelf here, not even installed yet. I finish about 4 or 5 FPS games a year.

I suck too much to finish most games. So, I stick to playing first person shooters online.

I always get the game, test the weapons and stuff in single player, and then go into multiplayer. Then about 2 months later.. finish the single player

I usually don't...for awhile. Then I eventually force myself to go back and beat them. Crysis, GoW, and UT3 are all unfinished right now, as are all the Portal advanced/challenge maps. I just get distracted so easily...

Another example: I got Halo 2 the day it came out and fired up multiplayer (read: mistake). Three years later I forced myself to sit down and beat it. I know it's not the best single player game (IMO anyway), but still!

i have over 200 games over the years, not including rentals and borrowed games and maybe finished %5 or so. most of the time i get bored, or get stuck on one of the insane hard parts, or cant find something. Some is the game crashes at a certain spot and i say the hell with it. I guess i feel kinda guilty to, but i sometimes wait till they are on sale or are bargain prices and buy several at once. with no time to play them all. The problem with most single player games is, there is no replay at all, its the same game over and over again.I prefer multiplayer for fps games , and single player for RTS games. the other types fit in here and there.

*siiiigghhhsss*

Don't remind me of the games I need to finish, I start to feel guilty. I have finished 95% of all the games I've ever played including console games.

Games that hold my interest, especially great story lines are the games that I will finish straight through, games such as Metal Gear Solid, God of War, Knights of the Old Republic, Onimusha and most recently Dark Messiah. Games that seem TOO hard (even on normal settings) such as Dino Crisis give me motivation to finish it.

My mentality is: If some freakin' 11 yr old kid can finish this game I damn well better be able to finish it! Especially games with alot of puzzle elements.

If I don't finish a game its because I got REALLY stuck (Onimusha 2 -- I STILL can't beat Nobunaga) or another game has taken its place and had a better story or gameplay, though that isn't many. I like finishing games, it gives me closure and I can better rate the game and my experience with it.

Games I need to finish:
- Gran Turismo 3,4 (finish means all Cups)
- Shadow of the Colossus (on the last Colossus)
- Black (gun porn ftw)
- Killzone
- Onimusha 2

Not surprisingly, they are all console games.

Last game I remember finishing was FF VII. Awesome game, awesome finish. Since then I've become busy with all sorts of other crap, and I never seem to feel the need to play games for more than a few hours at a shot. And then I stress about it a bit, which makes it too much like work and I never actually get back to it. :D

Depending on the game. If I finish a game that means I enjoyed it a lot and it was GOOD to my standards. I also try to keep from playing to many games at a time. Maybe 2-3 in rotation. Playing to many games at once is not good. You lose out on the in game feeling, control mix up, and its hard to stay interest in the game play. I try to finish the sp first before I jump online, keyword "try".

i finish all the games i buy. i get thru the single player before i even load the multi player and i have yet to load the crysis multiplayer since i heard it sucked. i dont usually buy new games till i am board with the one i am playing..... the only game i havent got tired of tho is cod4 multi player.... its my little slice of heaven :) damn it now i want to play cod4.... can work really wait two hours? yeah!

I try to finish all of my single player games. unless they suck/lose my attention. Some of them i do over and over :D (Anything from the final fantasy series really. except 9... :p )

It's funny. I don't even finish the games I'm enjoying. I'll pound these out over spring break:

Bioshock
STALKER
Nightfall (I just started a MM that I want to get through)
GOW

I never used to, then XB360 achievements came along and gave me motivation to finish games ;)

The only three SP games I played that I did not finish were:
Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine
Indiana Jones and the Emporer's Tomb
Morrowind

I have so many games that I just don't finish.. probably most go unfinished.

Haven't finished FF8, Saint's Row, Star Trek Legacy, STALKER, B&W 2 (cause the game keeps crashing), Oblivion (even though I played for hundreds of hours), Company of Heroes, Doom 3, Quake 4, and probably so much more.

The only games I've played all the way through are all Valve games (though sometimes I use cheats to speed it up), MGS, RE 1&2, and Dino Crysis 2. Those PS games and Portal are the only games i have ever replayed also. Crysis I stopped playing a couple levels into the alien mountain. I also have yet to beat COD4. I just can't seem to find the motivation.

I voted all of them, but I didn't finish oblivion. I took it back after a couple of hours. Just way too slow pace for me, still working on crackdown though. I play that for a little bit each week.

I haven't even finished Baldur's Gate 2, PS:T, System Shock II, Fallout 2 or even started Chronotrigger.

Guilty? Fuck it, those are some good games I'll eventually enjoy. I finish very, very few games. Oblivion was probably the longest I've ever spent in a game before finishing it--come to think of it I never made it all the way through Morrowind either (except for the first expansion, I forget the name.)

I primarily play games for the single player, and finish most of them unless they don't hold my interest.

Some ones I've kinda set down and still need to finish are Overlord, Gears of War, STALKER, Kameo, and The Witcher.

I just finished:

Shadow of the Colossus
Eternal Sonata
Tomb Raider Anniversary
Assassin's Creed
Call of Duty 4

I could never finish X-Wing: Alliance. I always died on the last mission on my way out of the Death Star, no matter what I tried. :( I really like the game though.

Other than that, I almost always finish the single-player. I've long ago lost count of how many times I played through Homeworld.

or even started Chronotrigger.

Oh dear. There may still be hope for you though, fire up the game and play it right away! :) It's actually the best game ever, and I'm not exaggerating at all. I've beaten it at least 10-15 times, and it never gets old.

I finish the majority of games I start, although some I've just gotten bored of and stopped playing. Back in the day I got sick of playing through identical levels in Doom 3 so I used a cheat to skip to the last level of the game. I also never finished HL2; by the time I got to the level leading to Nova Prospekt I realised the only part of the game that I had actually enjoyed was Ravenholm (the episodes are much better). Aside from those two games, I can't think of any others that I didn't play all the way through.

Pretty much the only game i've ever finished was portals, I never even put the call of duty 4 disk in after I installed it. Multiplayer all the way.

I haven't even finished Baldur's Gate 2, PS:T, System Shock II, Fallout 2 or even started Chronotrigger.

I never made it past the Ghostgate. I think what actually stopped me was the bland bland texturing for most of the inside of the island.

I could never finish X-Wing: Alliance. I always died on the last mission on my way out of the Death Star, no matter what I tried. :( I really like the game though.

Other than that, I almost always finish the single-player. I've long ago lost count of how many times I played through Homeworld.

That was a pain, if I remember you pretty much had to dump all of your resources to your engines and dont hit the walls on the way out. Seemed much faster in the movie right?

Xwing Alliance Upgrade breathed life into the game with much updated models but I don't even know if thats even around anymore. Sad that Lucasarts is abandoning everything that made them what they are now.

I try to finish most of them...at least as long as they can keep my attention.
There are some exceptions, but I've completed roughly 95% of the games I've purchased. The other 5% either ended up getting old quickly, or they came out at a time when too many other better games hit. One of those is actually Twilight Princess...which just lost my interest after a while. I think my wife eventually won it, though.

I try not to buy games that suck, but every now and again, I do. I certainly will not add insult to injury by wasting my time to finish it just cause I bought it. Most games I buy do not suck and I do finish most of them. Crysis is the only game I bought lately that I did not finish. Glad the first half of the game was worth a replay.

I beat all of my SP games. I don't do multiplayer or play online, so the SP part is the only thing I play.

The thing that helps is that I play 1 game at a time. I start playing 1 game and don't play anything else until I beat it. As soon as the credits roll, I start the next. repeat.

I always beat singleplayer first, if the game has multiplayer.

One reason is so I become familiar with the controls and weapons etc.

I absolutely hate it when I'm playing a multiplayer game, and someone on my team is asking how to buy weapons/swap weapons/reload etc

I never used to, then XB360 achievements came along and gave me motivation to finish games ;)

Yep!

Same with me.

These days, if a game isn't good enough to hold my interest from start to finish, I consider it sold and put it up on Ebay. There are some games like Mass Effect I put two hours in just to see if I would like it, but usually if a game is really good I'll start it and just play that one game until it's finished. On the 360 I'm cycling between a few games right now, but I'll finish them all eventually.

got a pile in the corner.Have finished fear and max payne.13 others just lying there:(

I finish the games that interest me. BioShock and STALKER are 2 recent games that I never finished.

I only buy games based on there multiplayer side... hardly ever even try SP.... especially shooters.. they're all the same linear crap.

I have reverted to SP only gaming.
Aside from NavyField, other games MP is just a turnoff.
The level of immaturity in any FPS server is more then Im willing to deal with these days.
Its either to immature or overly competitive.

I get my hands on so many games as it is, 10 hours of SP is a much more satisfying way to spend playing a game you'll only play for 10 hours before you move onto the next one.

I used to play competitive CS1.6 and it really soaked up to much of my life. I found the ultra competitive and immature nature of fps games stopped releasing stress and just becoming frustrating.

While I've finished playing through most of my games, I still have a pile of other games that still haven't been finished yet. Sometimes it's because I've lost interest, other times it's because I've bought something new to play with. I'd really like to get COD4, but I need to finish a couple more games before I pick it up. So many games, so little time.
