Do spiders count towards page counter?

I was wondering if web crawlers influence the stats on my page counter or google analytics?

If you still have a hit counter from the 90s, then just why?

Since Google analytics is generally included via javascript, I would think that crawlers would not be execute the javascript and wouldn't be counted. Then again, maybe crawlers are more sophisticated. Then again, maybe Google filters by user-agent for you, or not.

Tracking that is achieved by an invisible 1x1 pixel gif could still be influenced by crawlers.

You have the answer yourself: Does your web server log say that spiders are triggering your counter script?
