I see there is a deal on newegg for Synology DS1517. Considering that I want to get a 4 or 5 bay NAS, how worth it is this deal?
I'm still generally debating whether to use a single disk directly attached storage that i already have, or get a NAS. The benefits of NAS as i see it are RAID options and data protection and large storage space.
I pretty much want to use it for backup and storage. Qnap would be my other contender.
However, seeing this Synology deal ($50 off), do I go for it, or do I continue debating? Aka, how good is this deal? Is it worth snapping it up now or is it worth consider my options a little more and possibly buying something else even at full price?
