sup guys, I am getting rid of my 5500s. I have 2 reasons, one is that they are huge, and another is the bass is too "loose", it makes the bass sound too together in th pitches. for example, in "perfection through silence" by finch, the starting is all one bass note, and it makes it sound ALOT worse than my HD-515s, and they costed a fraction of the price. I do want speakers still, because I like to turn up the volume, but I have no idea what to get. I don't really need 5.1 but it would be a plus, and I want it to be under 500 CAD. Having them availalbe through NCIX, or a retail store in Edmonton alberta would be a huge help, as I dont need to get them shipped through some inane store down in the states. Oh, and optical in would be nice, but not necessary.

Thanks again,

- Keith

I suggest you look at a good set of bookshelves, and maybe with your budget, you can fit in a budget sub like the Dayton 10"/12". You won't get any of this at ncix though...they don't do too much high-end audio.

I wuold recommend PartsExpress BR-1, but not sure if you want to DIY. Also not sure if PartsExpress ships to Canada, maybe you can negotiate with them. They are the same company you woudl buy the Dayton sub from.

speakers:

subs:

These speakers go pretty low, so you can wait on the sub and invest into a better amp in the meantime. Anything from Onkyo or Harman Kardon will do. Or you can look at Denon/Marantz if you are willing to spend more.

if you don't want your speakers anymore, i'm interested in purchasing them off u :)
