Dissertation ideas?

Hey guys,

I'm in my final year at University over here in the UK - and I need to write my thesis/dissertation.

All the ideas I've had put forward suck balls, so I'm wondering what you guys would like to be researched in a semi-advanced level to do with networking?

Hardware encryption vs. software encryption is my main choice at present - as the cost of hardware plummets but specialised hardware increases in price why don't we virtualise all of our routing on hardcore ESXi boxes for example?

Any thoughts?

How about discussing methods to maintain or even increase data network uptime reliability as power distribution network uptime reliability declines? Or how to design a large network to gracefully handle a massively large power outage event such as India's recent mega-outage? Maybe even discuss the limits of a powerless network.
