Displayport MST hub prices are stupid.

Looking at a MST hub for work since Dell dropped one of the three outputs on the new optiplex (7060)

Conclusion: It's more cost effective to buy a whole extra low profile PCIe video card than it is to get a Displayport MST hub...

One is a 4K TV and the others are Dell LCD's that don't have daisy chain ports.

Every modern Ultrasharp I've used has supported it, didn't realize they sold them without that feature.

Just looked. Wow, that's crazy. The same 2-port hub I bought 2 years ago for work at $25 is now $45. Why the price hike?

Looked like a lot of out of stock or only refurbs left at monoprice. Maybe the expectation is if you want that functionality you get a Ultrasharp class monitor with pass-through so there is no longer a market? Doesn't help us in cubes who get the penny pinched "standard" screens. Oh well I'll just be adding a video card to drive my teams 4k TV

Yeah it's ridiculous that a video card is more cost effective. I swear some markets try to kill themselves

Send them back and order ones with DP out MST ports. It'll be cheaper than buying hubs or video cards.

That would probably be a draw at best and piss off the endpoint/desktop people in the process. I'll just get a $50 to $90 video card.

P.S. even the cheapest Ultrasharp 24 is missing DP out for daisy chain

$280 before corporate discounts doesn't seem unreasonable, how much are you saving buying these bottom of the barrel monitors?
