read the article and watched the linked video. The guy who made the video is a snowflake looking for attention. There is no pedophilia ring, just some sick fucks who are pointing out time stamps on vids where for the single frame or 2 the home made gymnastics or home video shows the kid in a compromising possession. I guess we should ban Seventeen magazine because some sick fucks can jerk off to that too?
I bet the guy who made this video gets angry and throws a shitfit when the checkout person says happy holidays instead of merry Christmas lol
Google could do something about this. Hire real humans instead of relying on thier algorithms.
Yeah it's a little worse than that. Makes my skin crawl.
and sacrifice the holy untouchable profit?
ARE YOU MAD?!?!?!?!?
This gives me a headache.
I'm going to say something dangerous - I'm not going to blame Google or YouTube. I blame the pedophiles who are doing this. YouTube has done too much to enrich my life, whether it's a repository for dumb stuff I find interesting, information videos that show me how to do things, or just a place where the average person can post videos about something from their life (I almost died when I watched some guy's homemade device for throwing squirrels into a pond - literally, almost died, I laughed so hard I sucked some food into my lungs).
I remember a time when there was no internet and no YouTube. If I wanted to learn how to fix a car or make a wood cabinet or crochet or build a barn or whatever, I had to find someone to teach me or hope that my library had a book that gave me some of that information. With YouTube and the internet I have the confidence to try things I would never have tried.
I do not see a direct problem with the original videos the pedophiles are linking too, so I can't justify telling Google that YouTube is the problem. Monetized or not, profitable or not, I appreciate YouTube as a service and I feel that Google deserves support, not condemnation, from the community. Google should be able to reach out to the community, the government and maybe even law enforcement to find the solution that everyone can live with.
It seems obvious to me. There's a problem, yes, but it starts and ends with that pedo that made those links. Let's discuss it with him.
Disney has no moral high ground.
They did what they did because of money. People care about these things right now so they are being sensitive to that to avoid their own backlash.
If we didn't, they would be just fine with the comments. It's hardly like they have a history of not sexualizing their cartoons or reinforcing social norms that relegate women as second to men even when the woman is the main character. Disney doesnt have morals, they have shareholders.
And that's the problem. If they're making an issue out of peoples retarded comments then it isn't the issue. If people can leave comments then people will point out stupid shit. This is been going on since the inception of YouTube and now they have issues? Now that a number of videos are getting record breaking down votes?I watched the video of Matt Watson and this person is just sick. He finds little girls sexy when they are not doing anything sexual, just doing normal child stuff. He creates a problem out of nothing. This isn't child porn, there isn't a "soft-core pedophilia ring", there isn't anything even remotely sexual in those videos.
"Well technically I was the one who killed Freeza. That's hot!" And now this video will be flagged and removed cause Trunks is underage. The problem, if there is a problem at all, is people. People will find anything sexy. Someone might find your 90 yo grandma sexy. But hey, the obvious solution is to just delete any video that features a minor, even if it appears for 1 second in the background.
I think Disney didn't see Rule 34. That rule applies to ANYTHING. A video with a fully clothed ugly kid in it is going to get someone off. Nothing short of castrating every guy is going to stop this. Not to defend pedos but since when is whacking it to a fully clothed image considered soft core porn. I mean sure some girl might be bent.over and you can see her clothed butt... ooooh so pornographic! Just because someone pleases themself to something doesnt automatically make it porn
YouTube is going to have to choose the option that gives them the least liability. Like any competitor will have to as well.
So completely removing comments won't impact their market if that's what ends up happening. If they force uploaders to moderate their own videos, most will likely only approve a tiny percentage regardless of content because who has the time? So same effect.
I don't really see any way around this. The benefit isn't worth the legal liability of being on the hook for the comment content.
Agreed! Pedos are one of the lowest scum to plaque this Earth.... people that traffic in this shit should be castrated painfully then shot
IDK, Facebook has a crap team reviewing reports and aren't much better.Google could do something about this. Hire real humans instead of relying on thier algorithms.
Beautiful, ain't it?All this perversion and sexual deviance is allowed and even promoted toward children online.
Yet mysteriously, these tech giants are quite efficient at censoring legal speech content they deem to be fascist, racist, sexist, and above all anti-Semitic.
Did you watch the video linked in the article? Those people are linking to specific parts of kid's videos that will creep the F out of parents, coaching kids to do moves that almost reveal parts of their bodies.A child wearing swimwear is now considered "disturbing content"? So if I go to any beach I'm a child rapist now? WTF?
Might be a SF, but I wouldn't doubt there's ring, there's plenty of F-up crap out there.read the article and watched the linked video. The guy who made the video is a snowflake looking for attention. Do you not remember the controversy over the subliminal messages in their movies? Lion King, Little mermaid, Toy Story, ect. Look up Disney controversial. You will find they have been doing this craziness for a long time now.Disney pre-2000s = ok. After 2010 = horrible virtue signalling white knights and also being too big to really go against/criticize in the industry
like every other major corp.
how this can be maintained and blown up even larger ever since = politicians having nothing else to keep themselves relevant, cause every other major reform costs their donors money ( same donors, as those whom own pretty much every single significant media outlet in English speaking world)
this is the lowest fruit to harvest.
I suppose another option is to require people to confirm their real identity before they are allowed to comment and upload videos.
It wouldn't be a perfect solution certainly, but pedophiles fear exposure. It would certainly cut down on their number by a huge margin, making things easier to manage. How would that make any difference?

But I bet most reside in Western democracies where there are stringent child protection laws, and this will make them paranoid enough to desist (at least on YT).Maybe, but how many of these are people that exist outside of the US, or western society in general?
These things happen when you have Global reach, not every nation is on the same footing we are or has the same ethics.
Maybe. Probably. But what do you suggest? If advertisers are fleeing—whatever their reasons—then YT cannot continue to exist as is. I would rather have YT in some form than not at all. That would play in perfectly to google/YouTube's data collecting initiative. I'm sure they would love to do that.

Nope, can't watch videos at work. I was just going by the headline. I thought these coaching things were only happening on facebook and ask.fm or some shit like that. It might be on youtube too, but I expect them to be rare as an unicorn. Removing the ability to comment videos because of it, is a terrible idea. And seems like more an excuse than a reason to me.Did you watch the video linked in the article? I don't think it would. I mean look at the public fights people have on twitter. The at this point in our society people don't care.Maybe, but that seems like a gut feeling rather than a factual claim. I'm not against people having to divulge personal information to comment on the internet, in fact I think it would do a lot to curtail the vitriol online.
Most internet users hail from first world countries, which in itself makes it a pretty good bet that these commentators do too. I doubt most are commenting from Thailand or wherever.Maybe, but that seems like a gut feeling rather than a factual claim. It's one thing to sling shit on Twitter, and quite another to publically salivate over children (or even joke about it; just ask James Gunn). These people know what they're doing is wrong—even if only legally—and their sense of self-preservation will kick in when faced with having to make their identities known. Roaches hate the light.I don't think it would. I mean look at the public fights people have on twitter. The at this point in our society people don't care.
Wow . . . one of our strongest biological imperatives is to protect the young. If you don't feel murderous rage towards those who would seek to do children harm, then something is fundamentally broken inside of you.Quick, let's lose our minds and wish death upon people jerking off to children doing children stuff on youtube. Think of all these little girls' lives ruined by the pervs!
Of all the fake outrages out there, the one over pedophilia is the one I distrust the most

I totally agree that this is a sick world. I have 5 kids myself 3 of which are daughters. I can't fathom why people get their jollies off over young children and yet we have to fight them to keep our kids safe. Its disgusting. Most internet users hail from first world countries, which in itself makes it a pretty good bet that these commentators do too. I doubt most are commenting from Thailand or wherever.

Yet still, they're going to continue to lust over these kids (ugh my stomach churns just typing that) whether they can comment about it or not, but what can you do? In a perfect world I could snap my fingers and all these sick fucks would just fall over dead, but alas that's impossible, and we'll always be plagued by their sort. We're still trying to figure out how to deal with such degenerates in the Information Age. It's a sticky wicket.
