DirectTV tuner + Synology?

Is it possible to attach some kind of DirecTV USB tuner card to a Synology NAS to record TV shows?
 
There is no such things as a DirecTV USB Tuner card.

See if the DVBLogic plugin supports something like a Hauppauge HD-PVR. I doubt it does though.
 
that would work, but only be SD. You also need to get the sinology to change the channel on the box.
 
That's a step in the right direction... could I get HD with a HDHomeRun, or some other way?
 
no, the hdhomerun is a tuner for over the air and cable hd.

you'd need something to capture from component or hdmi. but with component you will have hdcp issues.
 
Okay so the HDHomeRun will work with a receiver box from DirecTV. I'd get all those channels I have now, but they'd be reduced to SD? I guess that will have to do.
 
No the HDHomerun will not work for you. You need something like the Hauppage HD PVR2. Either way you will still need some sort of frontend to make this useful. Won't be able to get around the fact that you will need something other than the Synology NAS.
