Did a recent update break the Bixby button / Assistant for anyone else?

I just got a Galaxy Note 8 a week ago and I immediately changed the Bixby button to open Google Assistant after a single button press. When I pressed the button it opened Assistant and I could talk right away, but now it just opens the Google app and I have to hit the microphone button in search to talk.

Didn't do this before.

Just to make sure nothing else got broke, does long pressing your Home button still call up the Google Assistant?

Also, look into the Google Assistant settings and make sure that the Preferred input setting is still set to "Voice". You can get there by going to:
  1. Phone Settings
  2. find Google
  3. Search, Assistant & Voice
  4. Google Assistant
  5. Assistant tab
  6. Under Assistant devices, tap on Phone
  7. Under Voice and speech, Preferred input should be "Voice" (otherwise, try setting it to "Text" then switch it back to "Voice")
Hopefully that works for you. Personally, I would love it if I could have it set to toggling my flashlight on and off but I currently have it set to opening my camera instead. If I need Google, I can just long press the home button/gesture. :p
