Diablo IV - The Real Official Thread

sounds like a blizzard expansion launch alright

so you immediately opted to watch through all two hours of cutscenes and spoiled the story just to prove...?
I did, but you don't actually think they'd give you 2 hours of cutscenes do you? Maybe 20ish minutes? But to be fair the story is such ass that they could have summed it up in about 5 minutes. I may still purchase eventually but not for the story. I won't post spoilers, but all I'll say is I can't stand the main character.

I leveled a character to 60 over the last couple days.

It's certainly a much different game than the last time I played in uhh pre season 1.

I haven't bought the expansion but it's been a mostly enjoyable romp so far.

Nightmare dungeons are still annoying and objectives are just an unfun distraction that I wish they would drop. Helltide is way better. Itemization seems way, way better.
Dropping into the season was more reminiscent of D3 than the 4 I remembered.

I'm kind of on the fence for buying the expansion. Is anyone playing?

I am not a die hard grinding Diablo player, but I did buy the expansion the other day and played with the new Spiritborn class and am enjoying the new campaign.
played for a couple of hours and leveled up to 22.

Been playing off and on with the new class. D4 doesn't do 32:9 as well as I would like, but I have been plugging along. I'll play the story line and then we will see if it keeps my attention beyond that

I think it took me maybe 9-10 hours to hit 60 not knowing wtf I was doing. Didn't check the exact amount but I did it in a couple sittings.

With a decent plan I'm pretty sure I could halve it

The new class does look fun

I picked a rogue and it's not what I expected. It's like a whirlwind barbarian with more explosions. I tried the dance of knives build.

It's especially fun in helltide because I have enough move speed at this point to spin forever unless I get CCd. I just zoom around and mulch everything. In dungeons it's a little more fickle because I need to keep moving to keep the damage flowing and if I get hung up for more than a second it'll probably break the chain.

Fresh Torment 4 sorcerer here. Need to find a dependable group of folks that can learn and run citadel with me. PUGS just ain't doing it.

Been playing the dodge SpiritBorn build. As it's completely broken, I'm wondering if I should get my HC achievements done with it before the inevitable Blizzard nerf.

I said fuck it and got the expansion

The campaign is... alright - I started a new character and I did only the expansion content and finished at level 45. I basically did nothing but run to objectives and listen to plot. This kinda fucks you over a little, since you just kinda got m have to slog out random shit on the map for a while before you actually hit the end game content.

It doesn't really lead to any major development plot wise. That's kind of the problem. It's not super long and then they blue balls you anyway. And it should have been priced at $30.

The season is fun though. I've leveled a rogue and spirit born at this point to 60 and just entered Torment 2 on my rogue.

Worth getting the expansion if you are only a casual SP player who doesn't care about seasons and crap?

Man... As much as I love the game, no. I mean, single player is good, but the season is where it's the most fun for me.

It's well-designed for casual play though, most events are designed to take 10-15 minutes at most and eventually take 3-4 minutes as you power up. It's great in bite-size chunks... but the SP campaign eventually ends and it's not the best part of the game. You could probably do better for a SP game, just being real.

Thanks both. Will wait for the inevitable sale.
I enjoyed the expansion and it's story. That being said, you really should give the seasonal stuff a try, it's a lot more fun than you'd think and much more fast pace in terms of level progression and loot than the campaign is. I really think you'd enjoy it. You still get some good micro campaigns in the season as well so it feels like more than just loot, level repeat.

So, the dodge build is no more as of this week. While it certainly was a bug that occurred, it was a fun build. Guess I won't get my HC stuff in.

I'm still kind of upset though. Blizzard claims they're doing it because of the servers. Yet, strangely enough, all of the major streamers suddenly started complaining this week that this build needed to be fixed. Of course, they're not stating that they're busted build, doing 60+ trillion damage needs to be fixed. And you can see in their own videos, those numbers are lagging the servers just the same. Nor do they mentioned that they all used this build to get their early paragon and uber gear. And there are tons of other bugs, such as salvaging ancestrals makes it so that you can only get stat upgrades in your codex from ancestrals from here on out.

Bottom line: Streamers abuse bug. Streamers no longer need bug and complain to Blizzard to fix the bug. Other users who also had legitimate issues needed fixing are ignored, while streamer desires are catered to.

So far I have been enjoying the slog through the expansion. Enjoying the easter eggs from the various side quests referencing things from D2 in Act 3 etc... Graphics are fantastic. Getting used to all the changes the new expansion and S6 has brought. Enjoying the new class. Gives off some Monk and a bit on Assassin vibes(my fav D2 class) Wife is playing as well. Looking forward to running Dungeons with her and some other end game content. Should be keep me busy till the end of the year. Any game where I can get my wife to play(on her Steam Deck) is a win in my book.

From October 29 to November 5th, you can grab free Diablo 4 Halloween items just by logging into the game and claiming them from the in-game Shop. Here's a breakdown of what will be available each day:

  • October 29: The Recluse's Host Mount
  • October 30: Ichorflame Torch Mount Trophy
  • October 31: Recluse's Flask Mount Trophy
  • November 1: Reclusive Trappings Mount Armor

Anyone in for taking out the whole of the Citadel before November 5th?

I've had awful luck with the party finder.

Seasonal or standard? I'll be able to be online Friday night / off and on over the weekend...

Seasonal - running a T4 Sorcerer, but would likely drop to a lower torment just to breeze through it. I can annihilate T1-T3... Almost annihilate T4 except bosses are just sponges. Regular mobs and elites get melted.

Need to figure the Pit out, too, because the length of time to kill bosses makes the Pit a pain, I could do Pit 78-80 right now, but the bosses are just painful. Glyphs are stuck between levels 75-77 because of it. It sucks.

Ok a guy I work with was trying to explain a Diablo 4 Boss to me. He said you defeat the boss then there us a stairs where you and the other players enter another section or maybe inside the boss.

Yeah, there's some awkward stuff, my plan is to watch some videos to try to understand what's going on before I dive in. I'm on console, but hopefully we can yap via in-game audio.

I think the fight you're talking about is where we have to kite the boss around while sending souls or something to an alternate room where another player deposits them. Then the boss becomes vulnerable. Without coordination it's a train wreck and I swear playing online with PUGs lands you with all the, "yo momma," kids. All I want to do is get it done.
