So is wizard any good now? Or is it still "meh" like in the beta, I just got the starter edition and am using the Monk this time. Kinda lulz how easy it is, never have to run from a fight or even move a few steps back.

Its not bad, you just need a shit ton of damage with them and need a party to survive in later difficulties. They die insanely fast. If you dont have meat shields, youre dead. Teleport is useless in this game. Its not like D2 at all. My main is a Wizard and hes fun but, I am having a hard time getting enough damage to do anything in 4 person coops in nightmare. They kinda made the game too difficult.

On another note. This game has the most underdeveloped item mod system. They really screwed the items up in this game. Not only do sockets take an affix slot which is completely absurd, theres like nothing special about any item. Its very obvious the item system was the last thing they implemented in the game, and it feels rushed as hell.

Items dont have any special abilities, skills, high levels of crit or crushing blow or anything. It feels so, BLAH.

Even Legendary items in this game are basically the same as rares but just with more. I mean, really guys? Thats all you could come up with?

Just finished Act 1 Nightmare... and butcher was easier than some of the hero packs.

Wiped around 4-5 times.

Lvl 36 Barb, sitting at around 1.4k armor and 666 base DPS.

Diablo isn't solo-able with the fucking lag. He hits you from a fucking mile away after you've dodged his fucking attacks and his piece of shit bone prisons.

Great idea to make the game always-online and then not provide any servers on this side of the world Blizzard, you fucking morons.

/rage

I was wondering how the game would turn out for you when I saw that you had purchased it. The odd thing for me is that if I play on American servers, my latency is 500ms - 2,000ms. If I play on the Asian server I'm at 258ms. I live on the East coast of the USA in North Carolina. Nothing like fighting a boss and getting rubberbanded into 4 fireballs you dodges 5 secs earlier. :)

I'm on the East Coast as well and when I play on my own my ping is ~300-400ms.

In Battlefield if I play on a server in lets say Germany I get less than half of that

I found a semi fix for the microstutter issue I get.

Disable background fps, enable foreground fps and set to 200. Got rid of the vast majority of my microstutter. It still shows up now and then, and I still get the random major stutter, but it's much better.

I was having this problem ever since the launch of D3. Here is my fix, I disabled both background/foreground fps limiters and used full screen windowed mode. I hardly get any sort of stutter now. I am on 296.10 drivers.

It got rid of the random stutter a lot better for me doing the opposite, background at 5 fps and unchecking the foreground.

No idea why, buyt my frame rates have improved immensely since yesterday. Before I could not break 15fps even on the lowest detail levels, now today I am averaging about 80. This is on my GTX 470 machine. Any ideas as to what might have changed?

Is there PVP in the game? I thought I had heard people talkign about it, but I don't see where it would take place.

Some people would give their right ear...........

It seems that framerate is directly related to server lag. It was absolutely horrible last night with disconnects all around, and my framerate was so bad it was unplayable.

Is it a good idea to buy items from AH? I found some decent deals @ the AH that might end up cost way more if I buy in the game.

Problem with buying items that aren't for max level is you are going to find an upgrade a hour later. Unless they are dirt cheap, buying stuff isnt a good use of money imo. You can always upgrade your smith to craft a random item to fill that outdated item.

Hey guys checking back in, my DH is level 56 about to finish up Act II in Hell. Hell is a lot less fun than Nightmare, all I really do is spam Smoke Screen and pray I kill whatever I am attacking before I run out of Discipline.

I have seem some awesome Champions and Elites though that take a lot of effort and deaths to kill. Seeing how easily you can die in Hell has got me thinking twice about even attempting a HC character. I will probably wait of month or so at least until the server stability gets better. I cant tell you how many times I've been kiting a mob only to rubber-band right back to it and die. :(

Anyone else playing DH feel that Smoke Screen is absolute must? I try playing without it and it using just turns into a giant kite fest that never ends...

YES

buy, sell, and revel in the AH.

Agreed. I love it. You can get really good equip from people like mr just trying to unloadrares I can't use for cheap.

I only wish there was an easier way to trade items. I have so many radiant gems its unreal, and no way to get them higher short of selling them and buying which is a major time sink id be don't with nightmare first lol

Well I did upgrade my smith but I still find the items in auction much better. For example my Bard Lv 15 has weapon with average 15-17dps and I spent quiet decent gold to upgrade but yet I still couldn't find a good weapon. Went to AH and got a Sword 27 dps for 7000 gold. I know it's not ideal to spend a shit load of gold on certain weapon as I'll find better one over time but still, I think I'm just gonna save the gold to buy weapons off the AH for now.

I chose to load out with Vault (Tumble), Preparation (Battle Scars), and Shadow Power (Gloom) for survivability. I'm in Act 2 Inferno right now.

DH is insanely glass cannon... I really hate to say it but the game devolves into a tank + dps mode once you hit inferno and parts of hell. Monks and Barbs can take so much more punishment.

Inferno is what the hell tedious really...

By the way where can I find the average DPS display?

Yeah, I do the same thing. I dropped the ball on that blacksmith since its a lot more expensive to upgrade and usually shitty upgrades are available. Bought a lot of items at AH and now I am so advanced that would cost 80k gold to upgrade the blacksmith alone.

I enjoy the ah. Just set the filter for 1k max buy out and i usually find some really good deals. (got a rare 22dps sword for my lv 13 monk for only 700gold, same with helm and shield) normally the difference between 7k buyouts and 1k buy outs is like 2 dps. Atleast at lv 15

Yeah it's a pain in the ass. I managed to beat Diablo this morning at 3am when the lag wasn't so bad (still 300ms+ though...).

Currently in Act 3 of NM, was able to break 2.7k dps on my 45 wiz.

Your DPS starts spiking up very sharply around there, at 51 I'm now at 7700 on my wizard. Make sure you keep your weapon up to date.

Of course I fucking die if anything farts in my direction, but my damage is ridiculous.

Just hit 60, kind of annoyed at all the stuff that's been simply scrapped from the game.

-So many item suffixes/prefixes have been removed.
-The different types of elemental damage on weapons aren't actually differen't at all in function, they just look different. Gone are the days of poison over time, or low min-high max damage of lightning.
-There's no such thing as light or heavy armor, everyone wears everything
-Stats are distributed in a homogenized manner, there isn't any out of the ordinary "Wow!" niche items, like the goldfind% seems capped extremely low somewher around 15% per item, whereas in Diablo 2 a single item like the armor "Wealth" had +300% additional gold find which opened up "gold find" builds.
-There's no such thing as individual characters, everyone can be anything at the click of the button. This means there's no replayability in trying a differnent "build" of the same class
-Everyone's abilities is based off weapon damage, so wizards walk around with 2 handed axes with +intellect.
-Inferno is ridiculous at Hell gear levels, though not as bad as I thought
-Legendary items have lost their identity and don't truly stand out from the pack. Similar to uniques in vanilla Diablo 2, where rares were better.
-There's all kinds of "social" additions (banners, achievements, etc) but the Battle.net 2.0 lobby interface makes it seem like there's no community at all. Battle.net 2.0 is so shitty
-Due to the design and camera, it feels too much like a corridor RPG
-You can join anyone on any act if they are on your friends list, even if you didn't complete previous acts
-Art assets are recycled from WoW, the Demon Hunter's "Boar Companion" is a WoW model/animation, and the spiders are WoW model/animations.
-Act 1 and 2 seem decent, Act 3 and Act 4 seem somewhat rushed, especially Act 4.
-All the weapons sound the same when using attacking abilities. The Barbarians "Cleave" sounds the same when I have a sword and when I have a maul equipped.
-All kinds of problems with the auction interface, you can't sell something that isn't repaired, and you can't repair something that is in your stash unless you take it out. The auction house is also very laggy
-Due to the way the game is designed, hardcore is COMPLETELY impractical, especially Hell and Inferno. ESPECIALLY Inferno. The game design and "hardcore" mode doesn't match up, they took a D2 concept and applied it to a totally different style of game and it's a complete failure as a result.

As a hardcore Diablo, WoW, and retired hardcore Starcraft fan, I'd put this at about a 5/10 rating for Blizzard's standards.

This, pretty much this. I hit 60 yesterday, and made some good progress through Inferno, made it to the skeleton king before servers shut down for an update. I have a hard time wanting to play if all I have to look forward to is a bow with 900 dps, and maybe a few better rares in my other slots. The gear grind isn't there really, there is no drive to go out and get a Windforce, which should be fucking godlike, but it's just like another rare bow with random stats. Hell, it can be WORSE than a random blue bow found in Inferno.

Blizzard really needs to release Diablo 3 2.0 and revamp all set and legendary items.

Currently in Act 3 of NM, was able to break 2.7k dps on my 45 wiz.

Wtf? I have a lvl 36 WD and my dps is ~450...I highly doubt I'll make 1k by 45. We'll see I guess. I love the WD class, but I think they might be a little low on the damage spectrum. Lol

am i the only one who thinks they could of come up with more original acts.... ACT II - desert... sewers.... or am i missing something in the story line of D3?

So whats the deal, the entire endgame gear grind is essentially over now? No awesome uber items, no super sets, no baal runs? No fighting over loot, no sojs to trade, nada?

Before everyone gets a bit pissy - do remember how vanilla D2 was, before LoD.
And before the RW patches.

LoD went under a lot of refinement to get where it is, and there's already so many little things that have been improved on in D3. All the complains about item prefixes/suffixes are easily patchable; as are the complains about uniques (legendary).

I know it's only been 1 week, but it is incredibly nice that there are no spam bots coming into my games. Provided you don't make games public, there is never a risk of this, and I don't think people realize how much sh_t we put up with in D2.

Yeah BNet2.0 is still rough, but that's a separate issue (not tied specifically to D3 per se).

@SonicTron - I can't tell if that is 'casm or not. Sojs were only really traded in vanilla (prior to duping); and as for baal runs following a pally bot :p
Nostalgia is nostalgia, but some of those old conventions I'm happy to let stay in D2 land.

Christ... how are you supposed to do anything in Act 2 Inferno?

I thought Act 1 was bad, but I'm getting hit for 100k damage in Act 2. Seems kind of absurd.

Just finished normal. My only gripe is, just like everyone else said, the weapons. They're all exactly the same, you just look for which has the best main stat for whatever you're playing.

Not sure if I want to dive into Nightmare yet or not.

The item mods system is terrible... Yeah. Its like it was implemented last thing. Theres no unique or special skills. Nothing to really help dish out damage. Where did the crushing blow, critical strike, armor piercing, spell piercing go... What happened to special items that can be traded and sought after to create? Runewords? Hello? One of the best things of Diablo2...

The Legendary items arnt even that unique. They are just rare items with some better stats lol. Must be a genius who thought that one up.

The monsters just have way too much health given in the difficulties. Play in a 4 person coop in anything past normal, its just a battle of the meat bags.

On top of that, they made some of the stupidest mods that take up affix slots. "pick up gold from a distance" Seriously Blizzard?

They made sockets take up an affix slot as well. How full retard..... Sockets are always on top of the mod generated, not in replace of... Thx Blizzard.

Okay guys what do I do...

Went to target earlier to buy the game. Found one copy left on the shelves with the little alarm thing on it and both tape seals intact, top and bottom. Trying to activate it now and it tells me that the key has already been claimed...yes I checked for typos.

Upon closer inspection it looks like the bottom taping was slightly tampered with. It wasn't cut but it looks like they might have carefully peeled it off...so someone may have bought it, used it, and returned it.

I already cut the top part of the tape.

so uhhhhh now what..

think you are SOL. I had this happen before when I bought a Wow timecard for my g/f. Opened it up, and the card was missing. Nothing you can do.....

.

I happen to love that particular mod. It's pretty awesome to have it at 20 and not have to get anywhere near the gold to grab it.

It may not help you kill stuff but it makes life simpler.
