Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

only read on if you have beaten the game!

Diablo looks like that for a reason! his vessel was a female remember, he consumed her in order to be reborn. He has many forms too! not to mentions he has all of his brothers inside him with the blacksoulstone so thats why they designed him that way as well. but I think the biggest role was the consumption of leah in order to return

Makes sense. But still took me by surprise and not in a positive way. Have to think about this...

i have had bosses only drop magic instead of rares. very possible. if its your first kill you have a pretty high chance of getting rares though. after your normal run through though your rare drops from bosses decrease significantly

To answer the other guy your loot does not change due to your party size. However magic find is averaged between the group. so if you have 90% MF and the rest of your team has 0% thats 90/4 22.5% magic find for everybody.

I got nothing but blues from all creatures up until the skeleton king. he dropped two yellows for me last night.. a cross bow and a short bow.. both less dps than my current bow and quiver setup but they have some nice perks...

anyone else think they should change the ring sound back to the old D1 and D2 ring sound..? I loved hearing that DING sound... now it sounds like a bag of gravel dropping or something.. like the sound the totem charms made in D2.. hmmm

It runs fine on my secondary box that has an E6600 in it.

I'm thinking about playing it on my bench rig which is on a 26" display rather than my 3x 23.6" surround setup.. the extra width doesn't really help in this game, and the tennis match I have to endure to do any crafting sucks.. Also the characters on these 23" displays are so tiny... my bench rig: e6850 @ 3.6 w/ 2G of tracers and a 6950 on a 26" - I think this will be better. I know that's a lot of GPU for that cpu but oh well.. as long as it plays ok with everything maxed I am happy.

yeah there is obviously a BIG difference I could see how you'd be taken by suprise heheh

I fought diablo as my demon hunter. Except I had almost all AoE skills on my bar and like elemental arrow. Long fight. Would have been shorter if I put rapid fire on my bars.

Well, I didn't quite expect Leah to POOF be gone forever like that. Like that's it, never mentioned again. I thought they were going to do something else with her but Diablo just takes her over and that's that, she's perma toast, soul obliterated and nothing left.

Also the angels are kind of pussy little bitches who apparently cannot even wipe their own asses. Excuse me while I literally explode an entire screen of demons in 1 mouse click while one of your idiots struggles to fight one.

Also is there no "God" figure or character? Imperius is just one of the archangels, is there nothing higher tier than that?

I am playing a level 39 monk and my dps is around 600 something, is this low?

**Pro D3 tip of the day**

Enable 'Elective Mode' in the gameplay options menu.

This allows you to equip any skill to any slot. IE: You can bind multiple primary skills, defensive skills, etc.....

Enjoy. :)

^Was the only way I could beat the end-boss with my witch doctor. I got DESTROYED on my first playthrough, and when I catered my skills, I did much better, and one more try did the trick.
As a witch doctor, my skills were very much designed for AoE and mob crowd control to assist my crew (consisting of 4 zombie dogs, a gargantuan, usually ~4 spawned fetishes and my Templar). i.e. dispersed, constant, non-burst damage.
Plus, my passives were all about spawning more friendlies, all of which relied on the death of mobs; useless against one giant tank.
I had to adjust for one baddie and higher dps and survivability. the stock '2' button class was useless for the main diablo fight as it was all crowd control. Even in the weird 'dream' sequence, it was really one baddie at a time.

By the way, without giving anything away, is it just me, or even on a 23" 1920X1080 screen, did anyone else feel like some of the larger 'set piece' scenes and baddies were cut off all the time? Specifically the bosses of Acts II and IV, plus the unfolding 'locks' in Act II...

Lvl 33 Witch Doctor, Act 1 NM is at 675 DPS and could definitely be higher if I wanted to shop in GAH, but I haven't

my Witch Doctor has a +20% damage passive though which inflates my non-buffed DPS. buffed is ~1,350 DPS probably higher

I got that impression especially when fightining diablo. Felt like I couldn't see the whole screen.

Killed diablo as barb at lvl 32 without breaking a sweat... very easy.

Very easy as barb, only 1 legendary item in this playthrough. Diablo dropped crap.

Just found a 2 handed slotted maul that gave me +1k hp and +200 dmg. For my wizard. Blizzard really needs to ungimp the wizard wands and sources. There's no reason to use them. I've seen at most +3 arcane power, big whoop.

so..which is the best class to farm/play with? Any OP class ?
From what i heard , monk is/ might be a notch above all the others..Is that right?

So I would suggest you guys install and try darkd3 if you have not. It's a sharpening/lighting injector and it improves the game substantially for me. I'm using normal lighting / sharpener only, basically, so it looks like normal D3 but with sharper textures. It really cleans up the filtering quite a bit. Check it out.

You can turn the sharpness on/off the website to see what it looks like in game running with and without. It makes a pretty huge difference. I'd post screens but Precision-X and the in-game screenshot tool don't seem to work with the injector installed.

I found a Rare staff for my Monk in a random chest in the beginning of ACT2 normal. Was a little surprised to find one that way. Especially because it was a really good item. Anyone else find a Rare or Legendary item that way?

I'm taking the game nice and slow. I guess luckily I didn't get my CE delivered until Tuesday evening so I missed a lot of the drama earlier in the day. I've also been able to login every time I've tried so far.

I wanted my first play through to enjoy the cinematics and looking through every nook and cranny. I'm nearly done with Act II and have leveled up my barbarian to 23 so far.

I feel a lot of the gameplay changes so far to be for the better. I didn't care for pumping str to equip items, dex to max block and rest into vit. And it wasn't always fun to reroll a character just because you find a better item with lower str requirements so you can get more life. It's also nice to try out new skills without the need to reroll as well. I suppose this could hurt replayability later unless they decide to pump out a few expansions. Or that might be when I decide to roll hardcore.

I just wish I had more time to play these days like I did whenever Diablo II first came out.

you heard wrong. monk is probably the weakest. this coming from a level 52 monk on hell act 2.

dh is the best atm i would say. but if you dont like ranged go barb. you can go supersaiyan mode!

wow. what a difference. I can actually stand the art style now.

thank you!

I found one that I'm using now and I'm playing on normal and I'm only about level 14 or 15 I think.

I'm hoping someone makes some nice character guides to read or watch. I still kind of feel like I don't know what I'm doing with my monk, but I've only put a few hours in so far.

Just beat the game. Took my cousin and I about 15 hours to do it together. Map props to the lore team for taking a simple story and turning it into a vast epic world. I think it's safe to say that the people complaining about the game not being "dark enough" are eating lots of crow right now. The Realm of Terror was creepy as fuck.

Be prepared to die a metric fuckton if you play a demon hunter. I'm in hell act 2, and die every time we encounter a blue pack, lol. My friend plays a monk in Hell, and he tanks like a beast, all the while doing similar damage to my Demon Hunter.

is anyone one else noticing performance issues on ati cards? 2 of my friends and i have 6870s, all various Cats, one of them using the 12.4s. in act 3 on the bridge, we all had fps drops down into the single digits. our 4th friend on a gtx470 never saw a drop below 60.

A friend had the same problem, he apparently fixed it by using an older driver.

Yay, finally took down Belial! I upgraded my weapon which more than doubled my dps and gave the fight an honest attempt (took the time to recognize his pattern) and he was relatively easy. I'm way too overleveled that this point though. That fight is also pretty forgiving since health globes spawn spontaneously after he does his 3 hit smash

Does this count as a mod or some other thing that Blizzard will get pissy about and ban your account over?

Auction house is hosed -- can't get anything to return any results unless I just do an extremely general search

:(

was working fine the other day!

It was extremely slow for me yesterday morning, while in-game I had a green ping bar.

Yeah time for me to eat my humble pie after finishing the game. My two major complaints, I didn't lose sleep over either, were that 1) the music didn't feel as prevalent or as much of a "companion" with you as it did in Diablo 2 and 2) the game wasn't as morbid or disturbing...which I promptly crossed out in my head as I hit the later stages of Act II and beyond.

Other than that, really looking forward to the difficulty of Hell and Inferno; Act IV is going to be crazy.

Just started recently with my wizard and still enjoying the game. Although 2-3 hits would usually take my health down to 25%

I haven't reached nightmare yet but I can already tell that the Demon Hunter is much more fragile than I initially hoped...

I'm normally drawn to the Barbarian type classes but went with DH to force myself to try something 'a bit different.'

I'm running a 6870 with 12.1 (if it ain't broke don't update =P) and I haven't seen a hitch outside of network. Running everything at max and I've never seen a framerate drop.

And I'm only on Act 2 quest 5 and outside of the network/server issues I'm having a blast. I think at this point the only arguement about D3 that I agree with is the always online part. The story is just as hokey as the first two and the graphics are on par with where the other two where when they released (IE not the best but acceptable). I love the new skill system, the loot is cool, the AH is nice in that gold has value now, the multiplayer is seemless and so vastly improved it's not even funny. Once the server infrastructure evens out I'll be one happy camper for a while.

I'm in act 2 now. I haven't found any decent gear thus far and feel like my guy is gimped based on my gear..Hopefully better shit drops soon, cuz I kinda feel like my arm is being twisted to use the AH..

THIS was a constant problem with my Barbarian. I felt I was constantly gimped up by my gear. It wasnt until I found one badass rare Nodachi with socket that fixed my weapons department. (and actually lasted up to the Diablo himself, which then dropped some good dual wield gear) Not to mention lack of good armors! Game constatly dropped POS weapons and armor that were decent 10 levels ago, even rarities.

Didnt have this problem with Diablo 2. If all else failed I could gamble up some good gear as money was not in short supply (and was easy to grind more) in that game, atleast if you werent dying a lot.

I run with my brother and his wife, he plays barb she plays DH, since we all focus on different stats,we're swapping everything we find with each other. Anything I'm missing I fill in from crafting.

Nearing the end of act 2 normal, pushing something like 200 int and killing things at a good rate to put things in perspective.

Explosive blast, Frost nova (w/shatter), Arcane orb (with obliteration), arcane orb arcane orb, slow time, then Magic Missle (w/ split) if anything is still alive. Seems to work well in aoe pack.

Also my Ray of frost (w/ snow blast) is runed to work like a void ray, its a lot of fun. I think it will work well with an ice runed hydra and cold blooded for single target deeps.

My group started Act 3 last night and it's pretty awesome - the difficulty seems to ramp up perfectly. I'm loving the game itself aside from the random bouts of lag. I'm playing as a wizard. Teleport, Diamond Skin, Frost Nova, Meteor, Electrocute, Disintegrate. Prodigy Power/Glass Cannon passives. I've got just enough cc to stay alive in most situations, but the tight, narrow dungeons are quite challenging.
