Easy, they buy the keys in bulk from blizzard and provide them via digitaldownload, i am sure blizzard already knows about this site and if it wasn't legit they would of said something by now or shut them down.
 
still one of the best games ever.

I bet III will be a big letdown for a lot of us.
 
not available? how long has this deal been down for? i wish i had noticed it earlier, I've been wanting to play D2 for a long time now!

They buy keys from other regions where the prices are much, much, much lower and sell them over here - it's completely and totally against Blizzard's intentions and they'd love to shut it down, but it's not worth the chaos as so many of us have bought keys from there before thinking it was totally legit (I know I did!).

I talked to some guys at Steam support before about sites like that, apparently the site's just completely flaunting their rules. But it'll work, and they're not stopping it anytime soon.
 
i am sure blizzard doesn't care, more people playing their games but where else can you get keys cheaper then usually North America, most countries the games cost more, or are they just buying old inventory from them.

if it was against an EULA or something else, i am sure blizzard would have the legal power to shut them down or at least stop it working in the U.S.
 
Just saw this (don't know how I missed it) SO for $8 I will try it out. It is the only game my gf will play.

I tried to buy a key from mmo1st.com and it did not work. When I asked them why they told me to send them my account information.

I think they are not buying CD keys from Blizzard in bulk. They simply use a keygen to generate a key until one of them works.
 
A while after I got this, starcraft and diablo, I started getting a massive amount of spam spoofing blizzard sites trying to get me to provide account info. These may be totally unrelated, but it got me wondering.

Eh? This thread isn't about buying from mmo1st.com. It's about buying diablo2/starcraft keys from g2buy.com.

If the keys you bought don't work from mmo1st.com, I would talk up a storm with those guys, otherwise demand my money back. What do you mean asking you for account information? If they are asking for your blizzard/battle.net account information, I wouldn't be giving that out.

@sonofwang After I tried for a 14day free WoW trial, I started getting blizzard spam mail stating that I've violated terms by selling my WoW account. I've never gone ahead with even doing a one month subscription.

There's mmo1st.com link is on the first page of this thread, that's why I posted here. And yes, their key does not work and they ask for my battle.net account information.

Pretty, sure thats not Blizzard, Chinese gold farmers are trying to get you to give them your account information.

no, that's not how it works. a keygen cannot ever generate a key that works online. it'll bypass the initial check but will get shot down when it actually gets checked against the server.

these places buy copies from places in the world where the game costs jack shit.

I bought this over two years ago (and two computers ago...) and the other day on my new machine I remembered buying something from somewhere, and wondering who/what/where the games are, and how I access/download them...

Looks like the only thing you can get from g2buy.com now are in game items for D2. :(
