i nave the following setup:
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D
AMD64 3200+ CPU (Winnie Core)
2Gb Branded PC3200 DDR RAM
200Gb Western Digital 7200rpm Hard Drive
250Db Western Digital 7200rom Hard Drive
Sony 16x DL DVD Writer (Black Facia)
Gigabyte ATI Radeon X800 256Mb PCI-e Video Card (fanless design with heatpipe)
Soundblaster Audigy Soundcard
SkyHawk MSR-4610 Aluminum Case (Brushed Aluminum)
Rosewill 450W Silent PSU
Thermalright XP90 HSF
i am currently trying to install xp, and for some reason the optical drive will not open while being plugged in to the mobo. nor does the motherboard reckognize either of the two harddrives i have installed. im posotive its a driver issue, but if i cant use the optical drives what are my options to do this, do i need to dust off a floppy drive??? let me know if anyone has any advice. (fyi i purchased this obo from a respectable member of this forum who assured me it worked great, and i have no reason to doubt it.)

check your bios to make sure you have enabled booting off those devices

make sure you have not disabled the ide / sata controllers

if you've gotten xp installed, have you loaded the latest drivers?

I have basically same setup...same mobo, proc, 2 GB of ram, 7800gt and everything just fine

fixed it, turned out to be a vombo between the ide cable being bad, and the drive disabled :D kinda feel retarted but releived, thx for the imput btw
