desktop not refreshing actual files....it shows stuff thats already deleted

windows 10 desktop area not refreshing like it should. lets say i download a few files to my desktop....i decide the were the wrong ones and right click delete. Well it like the file is sill there but if i try and delete it again, ill get an error message that the files no longer exists.

If i right click refresh the desktop will no longer show the already deleted files..lol is there a simply fix for this?

Has happened to me on every Windows OS since Vista but not very often. Probably before then too but I never noticed. I just click an empty area of the desktop and hit F5 and move on with life.

Other than rarely having an empty recycle bin showing items in it, I haven't seen that behavior. I also don't run lots of shell extensions either, which seem to be a common variable.

Have you applied any "tweaks" to Windows? If so, you may want to review them -- possibly post a list.

I would expect that disabling change notify would cause this.

well of course its win 10....so yes on tweaks lol and yea its probably somehow related to something i played around with...some days no problem...other days i have to refresh like guitar mentioned....i will have a look at the article pxc posted thanks
