Delta Force Return Teased; Full Reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live

Developer TiMi Studio Group has teased the return of Delta Force, the classic voxel-based military first-person shooter that debuted on PC a quarter-century ago...the new game will be a cross-platform effort spanning PC, consoles, and mobile...more will be revealed at the proper unveiling next week at Gamescom Opening Night Live...

"Cross platform - Mobile"

And zero interest from me. It can not be a full featured game if it is developed in concert and across mobile as a primary platform.

Sorry, but this just looks like another Call of Duty clone. The original game from which this gets its namesake was a tactical military simulation. This looks like just yet another Michael Bay military fantasy.

Graphically it looks nice. Though what kind of game will it be? If I recall the older games were single player/co-op, semi realistic and slightly more action oriented versions of games like Ghost Recon and whatnot. Some of these trailers make it look like another Call of Duty/Fortnite kitbash multiplayer game.

Edit: Okay this looks a bit ambitious but I think the multiplayer will be a micro transaction infested game with silly cosmetic crap and seasons passes/grinding. Confirmed to have "operators" and gimmicky stuff. Free to play, so I expect a disaster.

If they manage to keep it sane it looks like there will be a Battlefield style mode (Havoc Warfare) and a co-op specific mode.

  • Large-Scale PvP Mode - Havoc Warfare: Compete as part of a large team on massive maps, featuring authentic terrains and including military vehicles, tanks and helicopters in a grand war.
  • Extraction Mode - Hazard Operations: Squad up and take on other teams or AI-controlled mercenaries and royal guards in the Hazard Operations, the most tactical take on the popular extraction genre to date. Random events across massive maps will keep players engaged, as well as selecting challenging PvE-focused missions as part of the experience.

Campaign is UE5, but other modes are UE4?

The video teaser is focused on the game's 'Black Hawk Down' campaign mode, which is being developed with Unreal Engine 5. Weirdly enough, that won't be true for the other two modes available in Delta Force: Hawk Ops, which will presumably be made in Unreal Engine 4 instead.

Not sure about PvP?

The campaign looks interesting. Though it is at odds with the multiplayer side of things. Looks like an authentic (though not extremely realistic) campaign mode, with a gamerbro kiddie style multiplayer. I suppose it was the only way to get the campaign or game made in modern times though.

I'm not sure why they made this free-to-play...seems pretty polished and I just assume free means lower quality

Had a lot of fun with the older games so will be looking forward to this one also.

Delta Force was one of my first PC games that I played, had some good times with it. Interested to see how this turns out.
It was the first game I ever bought with my uncle at the time. I spent so many hours playing Delta Force 2 , some people still play it, then DF Black hawk down, but then after that was when the decline started sadly :(

Weren't the original games more in line with Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six? The ones from the 90s and 2000s.

Been enjoying the Alpha so far so good. Some minor glitches but the basic are solid. Leveled up to 10 last night looking forward to tonight. aka Abishai619

I can't get my push to talk button for discord to work when the game is open, I have to alt tab to get it to work. anyone else have this issue?

I need friends...hard playing with randoms. I've started just going in with a knife since I lose everything I get

It is okay. The rush like mode reminds me of Battlefield rush, which is a good thing. Shooting could be a bit better but it is generally good. If the unlocking speed stays the same in the release game it would not be bad. The futuristic gadget crap is annoying, and the character design is pants on head retarded but we already knew that. The gadgets currently are more annoying and less impactful in gameplay but still should be removed, who knows how that can change in a release build. Looks dumb as hell seeing clones of people on both teams.

The thing I don't like is the vehicles and map design are not open enough. Has major BF1/V/2042 feeling here. The few vehicle maps I played did not allow them enough flexibility and had too few per map. BF3/4 (often with custom respawn rates) did it right. If they can put in better maps with more vehicles so everyone can get one (8-10 armored vehicles per team) and make a proper infantry only mode like TDM or capture/advance, they may be onto something. But I suspect like most shooters they will screw it up with crappy game modes and unlocks.

For the super hero stuff I wish they would keep it exclusive to the extraction mode, which is essentially the Fortnite mode of this game. But we all know they will shove it everywhere.

I will say this will be tough competition for CoD and BF. Both of those are full priced games with freemium bullshit in them. If they're going to charge $70 and still put in all that kiddie crap free to play shit in them, I see little reason to not play a free to play game like DF Hawk OPs in the first place. For the record, give me a serious looking and good playing military themed shooter and I'll pay for it.

Are these the droids were looking for?

Is this truly a Battlefield competitor for once? Last game to give a BF vibe was Joint Ops.

Something about the shooting pushes me away. I will give it another try, but it didn't impress me.

Bots are annoying, vehicles are garbage compared to any bf game. The movement feels like a mobile game…. Kinda clunky. Needs a bit of polish, getting odd bugs all of a sudden.

I do like the extraction mode as well, it’s not too hard for a casual like myself.
