I'm in need of a new laptop. I'll be running various distributions of Linux on it with general purpose computing as my use case. I've narrowed it down to two: The XPS 13 or the X1 Carbon, both current late 2016 generations.

Anyone have strong feelings for or against one or the other?

What in particular do you like about it? This review wasn't spectacular:

Dell XPS 13 9360 QHD+ i5-7200U Notebook Review

Most reviews of the older xps 13 9350 serves as a good indication of the 9360, since the 9360 was released to the public less than a week ago so you won't find any reviews at the moment. The xps 13 3950 is consistently #1 in almost all reviews. This can't be said about the x1.

The 9360 improved the wifi, and also is one of two intel kaby lake cpu powered ultrabooks out on the market.

XPS 13, if you are in the market for one I will have one for sale soon.

Not the Carbon X1 - screen will look like shit inside of 6 months, unless the fixed the screen to keyboard spacing beyond Gen 3. Trust me.
