The other day it was pretty hot in the house and thats when my Dell Vostro 1400 laptop died. The laptop ran pretty hot as I was post processing some photos in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop CS4. I remember seeing a white screen for a few sec and then it shut off. I tried turning it back on the screen showed no activity and there is no hard drive activity as well.

I have tried swapping memory and hard drive from another laptop... no go.

Could it be the graphic processor that fried up?

basic spec:
intel core 2 duo 1.4 GHz 2mb cache
2gb ram
8400m gs 128mb

I think your 8400M GS is dead. I'm not sure about the 1400s but on the 1500 like the one I'm typing on now, you can swap the 8400m GS easily. I swapped mine out for an 8600m GT, I'm not sure it'll fit in the 1400 though.

EDIT: Nevermind, the videocard is built into the motherboard for the 1400s. If you 8400m GS is the dead part, you'll need to replace the whole motherboard.
