In other news, wonder what price point these will eventually wind up at on eBay. Seems to still be holding pretty steady though there are a ton of new listings.
 
Managed to snag one of the $99 ones at the Boston store, got there at 7AM and wound up being #20 in line.
 
I got the shipping notice for my $199 one from the online store. Coming from California, it will be here in Texas on Thursday.

Got mine as well, and they fucked me. I paid for 2 day shipping, as I'm leaving Saturday for vacation. Tracking number says Ground, ETA next Monday. Not real pleased about that.
 
whoever designs these things needs to get fired. dell hasnt made anything attractive since the company emerged.
 
Did anyone at that went into the store ask about the Surface 2 pro deal? I'm thinking of camping out on friday :D.

Yeah, that looks to be the only other deal besides this one of significant interest, I'm sure the details will become more clear during the week.

LOL! Microsoft makes a shit ton of mistakes but every now and then does something that can be surprising in a good way. It was beyond obvious that Windows tablets had to get cheaper and better when 8 launched last year, but I didn't expect to see something like the V8P selling routinely under $250 and lower, not this year. But I do give most of the credit to Intel, Bay Trail is amazing compared to previous Atoms. If Microsoft and its partners can begin to pump out devices of this quality and better at these prices it does change the tablet game significantly.
 
Just so I get this straight, these have been going at $229. I can get why there's a huge rush to get them at $99, but seems that even at $199 they're sold out on the Microsoft store?

when I got my email confirmation, the email said I'd get a code shortly for my $25 coupon after my item has shipped, but I have yet to receive anything. has anyone gotten the coupon by email? i read earlier some people called the store...

Well, there are still some bugs with these devices - i bought a 64GB Miix 2 here in Slovakia for 350€, and while the performance is acceptable (especially for an "Atom"), there are some minor problems :
1) connected standby is a mess, in 4 days i own this tablet i had two freezes due connected standby. Device enters that state, and never returns to life, i have to press the power button for 10 seconds and then power the device on again.
2) this is more about Lenovo - why on earth do the manufacturer feel the need to bundle software ? Especially McAfee trial ? :rolleyes: And the situation is even funnier as the local shop bundled a 1 year licence to Norton Internet Security :D.

Thrill of the hunt? Limit it to 20 and people will clamor to get one. I had to get rid of an old mattress once. Found out that leaving it outside for free didn't entice people to take it, so I put a $20 price tag on it- it was "stolen" in less than an hour. Make it seem like it's a "steal," people will think it is. Maybe it's biological; scarcity of resources.
After having a Surface RT (good riddance), I won't buy a Win8 product again- even at $99, or even $20.
 
After fighting with MS all morning, looks like I'm completely fucked.

Paid for 2 Day shipping, got Ground. ETA is Monday, and I leave Saturday for vacation. They can't change the ship speed now that it has been accepted. They won't change the delivery address. UPS will only hold for 5 days. They won't ship me a new tablet with the proper ship speed. My options have become either to cancel my order and rebuy it for full price elsewhere, or delay my trip home by a few days. Bastards.

I'm trying to, but it's proving difficult to find someone who will be around. All my friends are military, and like me, they all have block leave starting Saturday. It's like a mass exodus... everyone I can think of who I'd trust is leaving, and I don't have any family nearby.
 
That really puts you in a bind. Can't believe MS or UPS will not help you. Seems they would work with you under the circumstances. But at least you got one as most of us never eve got the page to load. A few more days of stay might be a good thing.

Normally I wouldn't mind just sticking around here for the 3 days or whatever since I'm driving. But my wifes deploying to Afghanistan in a month and it would be shitty of me to say she gets less time to see her family cause i gotta sit around and wait for some toy.


Luckily, I'm chatting it up with staples, who is going to PM the Microcenter price, and still give me the $25 card. With their free shipping, delivery is this Thursday. So, in the end, it only costs me $20 more to order through them. I can live with that.

Well, my wife is military, not me (but for what it's worth, I'm after a tablet so she's got something smaller than a laptop to take with her :p).
 
So, my orders (from 2 weeks ago) for the folio and the stylus have been pushed back. Originally due yesterday and tomorrow, the Folio (due yesterday) was pushed to the 13th and the stylus to the 18th.

Rumor is that they are re-working the stylus hardware to work out some of the kinks involved with hover-clicks.
 
I gave up waiting for the dell keyboard and am pretty much in love with the MS wedge keyboard. for 40 bucks shipped you can't really beat it and I can use it and the wedge mouse with my galaxy note 2 too.

I've kind of felt that some of these issues were more on the pen side. My pen has worked pretty decently and now that I've used it for a month, for what it is and what this device costs, I actually happy with the pen experience though it certainly needs to be improved and I wouldn't at all mind seeing the next version of this device come with a Wacom pen.
 
Yea, I read a thread over at Tabletpcreview, and someone mentioned that if they rotated the pen, the orientation of the pen's buttons affected it's accuracy and performance.

Anyway, I just got off the phone with Dell. Apparently they have 0 in stock of either product, and both are heavily backordered. I won't be receiving the case on the 13th, and then pen might not make it by Christmas. Now, I'm not too worried about it since both are for me, but I imagine there are going to be some pretty pissed off folks who ordered these as accessories.
For reference, I ordered the stylus on Nov 27 and the folio on Dec. 1st.

Also, Dear Dell, I'd rather you have your reps provide their real names. That wasn't a "Bill" I was speaking to.
 
For fucks sake, I can't even get them to cancel my order now (even though the last supervisor told me I could, and I said I wanted to think on it). Gunna go for a chargeback next I guess. What a bunch of morons.

EDIT: Finally got someone to do an intercept. But now they still wont start the refund process until its arrived back. Normally, that makes sense, but when they intercepted it, they know damn well it's coming back. You'd think since this is all their fuck up, they would just start the refund so we can move on. Lesson learned... never spending another dime at this piece of shit store. Sorry for all the bitching, but man are they making this hard.

Best Buy has the Logitech K810 for $49 on their website which their stores will match.
 
I'm SO angry I forgot about this and missed the sale. Does anyone have an extra tab they got for $99 they want to sell? I would cover all the fees of course.

(1) Even if you remembered, unless you have amazing luck / skill, or were willing to wait hours outside a microsoft store before it opened, you were unlikely to get one
(2) If someone magically was able to snag one and didn't want it for themselves, why would they sell it to you at $99 when they could flip it for double that on eBay?
 
^there are members here who would actually sell this for that price. But again, for what its worth outside, I don`t see many takes on the $99+fees here.
 
I would certainly buy one for $99 if I could but I can't see why anyone would sell it at that price, at least still in the box.
 
Just an fyi, default brightness settings suck, as does the color accuracy and contrast. Spend some time with windows calibration and adjusting color settings in the Intel control panel and it looks way better.
 
My gift cards got here yesterday. Not only did she send the two $25 cards for the marketplace, but she also sent two $25 cards for Microsoft Store (usable in store or online). So we each got $50 in gift cards :)
