Dell Censors Panel lottery info. Share info here.

The NEC 20 was discontinued from the local Bestbuy near my house...I asked the manager why & he said because noone is buying it...I wish the price went down to at least 100 bux more than the Dell 20 inch & it would sell like crazy.....Currently its 569 at newegg....Still too much to pay since its just shy of a 24 inch monitor....

I got mine at Best Buy but I had to go to one an hour away in the next state over becuase the Best Buys and Circuit Citys didn't have them in store despite offering them online. I asked BB staff why they didn't keep in in stock and they said because it was too expensive to keep in stock at the store and just let people order online. That was too bad because when I walked into the one Best Buy that had the NEC in stock I could see it was much better than the other monitors from across the room. I think all the big stores are in tight with the big producers of cheap monitor like Samsung, Viewsonic etc. I don't even see cheap NEC's in the big stores near me.

you did not like the DELL?

I was sent 2 Dells - both S-PVA and not S-IPS. The S-PVA was awful for photography. My first Dell also had stuck pixels so I was sending it back no matter what it was. While waiting for the second monitor I learned about the NEC here and at AnandTech and dpreview photography forum. I noticed that "offical reviews" didn't seem as good as the reviews by owners and specialists. When I finally saw NEC in person I was blown away and decided not to try a third time for a Dell S-IPS. I am sure its a great moniotr for 335 (amount I paid) but I thought even if I got a S-IPS the Dell's seemed cheaply made. I also learned that monitor reviews can be some of the worst and most lopsided type of review there is. Dell ads are often flashing next to such reviews and that explains some it I think . With all the nonsense Dell created with its dodgey panel swaps I only criticism mentioned on one site in news/reviews.

Can someone measure the exact height in cm without the stand (the actual panel) of the 2007WFP for me please?

Another happy report from Europe, Romania, one 2007WFP just came yesterday:
A04 V1B22 RT803 S-IPS panel;
No stuck/dead pixels;
Uniform backlight;
Date of Manufacture: April 2007;
Made in Czech Republic.

So I guess all A04 made so far in Czech Republic are with S-IPS panels!

Can someone measure the exact height in cm without the stand (the actual panel) of the 2007WFP for me please?
It's 38cm, including up and down bezels.

Wait are you sure that's correct? Dell's spec says with the stand its at least 332m in height:

Dimensions (WxDxH) : With Stand: 472.7mm x 177.7mm x 332mm to 513mm

Thats nice, but Dell has no obligation to note a panel change. Unless in the description they mention S-ISP panel. While I agree it is underhanded, they are not breaking the rules. Also not sure why you say Dell LCDs are "cheaply" made? I find my 2007 WFP to be fine. Good build quality, no bleed, nice ports, and it looks alot better than the silver ugly ass NEC. The NEC is nice, but for a 20inch its just not worth the price regardless what panel is being used.

Sorry, I don't know what I've been smoking :)
The real number it's 311mm (31.1cm) (height, panel + up&down bezels)
There ya go. Hope it helps.

no clue on what panel type.

Actually, this is an onlder panel before they started hiding the panel type, so it is clearly visible above. This is an LG-Phillips LM201W01 S-IPS panel. All the original 2007 wfp were likewise equipped. It was only after some time that they started mixing in PVA.

i did you ever see a NEC 20wmgx2 is person : wow

plus all the features it s worth the $100 more than the Dell. that s my opinion

cyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

With that glossy panel I don't think it's worth it.
Without it, I would totally buy it.

That gloss really ruined a wonderful monitor. Too bad.

Would anyone recommend buying a 2007WFP from the Dell Website from Southern California?

It seems like many people are getting rev A04s and S-IPS panels recently.

Anyone buy a referbed Dell LCD? Was it S-IPS? How is the warranty on them? (Dell Outlet)

if it was '"only" 100 dollars more i'd really consider buying it (still not pleased with the gloss either though), but sadly it's a bit over 200 dollars more generally from what i've seen.

The NEC is 519 with 50$ mail in rebate at newegg. However the Dell 24 inch 2407 is also on sale for 569. So 50 bux more which that mail in rebate is will get you a 24 inch vs 20...

what do you want for answer bud? decide yourself..........it s your money....14 posts and 4 PM.....

whe can not decide for you.........if you want a big .... buy the big .... but there is a lottery for the dell 2407and many have a PVA panel.....bad angles and not good color reproduction .

go see the tread about the dell.

i wont change my nec 20" for a 24'' dell .or a 30''.

i like more quality VS quantity(SIZE). and you must have an expensive graphic card because native resolution on the dell is 1920x etc:rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

MY232 ???

If my experiences are typical I believe the panel lottery is over!

I ordered my fourth new 2007WFP on May 24, 2007.

Shipped from:
DELL COMPUTER WC9 EMP
Austin, TX 78754
United States

Arrived today May 29, 2007

Monitor was Made in Mexico

It is a 2007 WFP A04 - Panel code RT803: S-IPS

I have now purchased five monitors and the only S-PVA was a REFURBISHED
2007 WFP A03 - Panel code PM330: S-PVA Made in Mexico,

All the NEW A04 have been S-IPS.

Again?

It goes in batches. Last month someone claimed he talked to dell, talked to supervisors at Dell and the Lotto was definitely over and all would be S-IPS. Some people bought that and for about two weeks no reported a PVA. But then the PVA's started coming again.

Dell ships whatever they have available at the best price. This lotto will never end IMO, until this model is done.

does the 2007WFP display 1080.

i am aware that it only does 1050. what i mean is, will it accept a 1080 input and just only 1050, and miss out the 30 pixels (which seems ok to me) or does it scale the input down and shrink the image to 1050 therefore condensing the image and include all 1080 pixels but just squished

I just got the 2007 WFP.
On the box, it says REVA04 made in Mexico.
Is that officially a S-IPS panel?

Check the service menu by...

Turn off the monitor.
Hold down "menu" and the "+" while powering up the monitor.
When monitor is fully powered and the input graphic disappears: release "menu" and "+" then press the "-" button

If you get a RT803 then it's a S-IPS.

ฺัBTW. Anyone who got a S-IPS , Could you tell the LAST alphabet of your serial number. Is it a L Letter ?
I'd got this info from chinese site. Mine is an U which code is MY232 (Dell told me that it's a PVA Panel).
