So i just got one of these dell 3007WFP, Im using a 6800 GT nvidia card. It is not letting me go past 1280 x 800 resolution?? anyone know what the deal is?? i tried updating my drivers to the latest nvidia has to offer still cant go any higher on resolution. Any feedback is welcomed, i trust you guys more then dell support they are horrible.

OKay, i have i new graphic card on the way, but 6800 gt says it has Max Resolution 2048 x 1536 .. So i think i should be able to get more then 1280 x 800?? but maybe not, any other thoughts??

dual link DVI has nothing to do with using 2 inputs.. it's just a more advanced version of DVI.

http://www.pacificcable.com/DVI_Tutorial.htm

Although I do believe some very early high resolution LCDs could use two single link cables, that was before dual-link DVI came about and I doubt they are even made anymore.

I know single-link DVI can do 1920x1200 with reduced blanking.. it won't allow that resolution?

The problem is that your monitor doesn't have an internal scaler, so it can only take 2560x1600 or 1280x800 since 1280x800 can be shown by having 4 pixels representing 1 pixel.

Your card (unless it somehow doesn't support dual link DVI) is more then fine for this monitor. You could run it fine for basic stuff on a geforce 5 series.

You may need to plug it into the top port, as that is often the dual-link port on your video card.

I think your 6800GT is dual link AGP isn't it? If so, you can run one of the port at DL speed.

The 2048x1536 is only for analog, it's meaningless for digital DVI. If your card is not DL, then it's only single link which can only support 1/2 of the dual link spec., which is 1/2 x 2560x1600 = 1280x800

If you order a new card, make sure it's AGP DL, not PCI E DL or else it won't snap into your computer

To properly put it,... it is 1/4x2560x1600 = 1280x800, or 1/4(2560x1600) = 1280x800..... or (1/2x2560) x (1/2x1600)

No 6xxx Geforce has dual link dvi. And the monitor accepts only 2560x1600 or 1280x800. So if the graphics card can't handle 2560x1600, it will only work in 1280x800. Just buy a geforce 7600gt or better and you'lle be fine.

I'm not so certain about that. when I was first scoping out the 30 inch apple they stated that a 6800 was the card to have cuz they were both out at the time. now whether or not it was the 6800gt or the 6800 gts that made the difference I'm not certain on.

just found this

# - Mac Pro, all graphics options
# - Power Mac G5 (PCI-X) with ATI Radeon 9650 or better or NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT DDL or better with Mac OS X v10.3.9 or Mac OS X v10.4.2 or later

I'm guessing not all card makers gave their 6800s DL

Thanks for all the input guys, It was very helpful. Yes my card is 6800 AGP. I will be upgrading shortly. Thanks again
