Does this LCD have HDCP? I am thinking of buying one from a member of the forum but I just need to make sure it has the stuff I need. Any issues that I should be aware of? Is there another LCD that will suit my needs better?

-Very good viewing angles (P-MVA panel prob)
-Good contrast ratio and colors
-No ghosting
-HDCP
-1920x1200
-Good scalable resolutions is nice

Basically, I want the perfect LCD :p

yes, it does have HDCP over DVI. One thing to note, the panel in the 2407WFP is S-PVA rather than P-MVA. A good screen though, very popular

-No ghosting
I'm not sure if the 2407WFP has been completely replaced by the 2407WFP-HC in all markets, but check this out.

To cut a long story short, if you're at all worried about ghosting the Dell is the *last* monitor you should be considering, at least until they release a fixed version...

/edit: sorry, I didn't read your post properly - AFAIK the previous 2407WFP didn't have the ghosting issues of the replacement 2407WFP-HC, so if you're buying one from another forum member you should be good to go. :)

Thanks for that article. So from what I read, the root of the problem has been identified but no fix has been made yet. Is that correct? When they make the fix, will they allow buyers to exchange for the newer version? Does it matter if I got my HC with a system (I sold the system right away)?

Chris on the Dell forum has promised everyone will be able to exchange their screens under warranty when a fixed version is released, but whether or not you'll get a brand new one might depend on your location.

If you're in the USA, and you go through Chris, you should be able to exchange for a brand-new panel even if you've had the monitor longer than 21 days, but if not you might have to settle for a refurbished item. It might be worth checking with your local Dell dealership to see what their policy is - if you hadn't already bought the system, I reckon they might have guaranteed you a new screen whenever the fix became available rather than risk losing your business altogether, but otherwise who knows.

There's an ongoing discussion on the Dell forums here if you're interested. :)

Thanks for the info Nick. Yeah I got the system/LCD back in July when Dell had a coupon mistake (stacked a couple coupons). I am in the US so I'll have to keep up to date with that Dell forum thread. Thanks again.

Looks like I'll be buying this LCD, the Dell 2407WFP. The seller says it's revision A03 but I'm not sure what that means in terms of this LCD.

A03 revision is the "latest updated monitor"

lol are you buying the monitor on FS/T? I don't think he states HDCP.

Yes, I am planning on buying a monitor on FS/T. Besides, not every person knows every little spec of the hardware that they own. From what I've read, this LCD has HDCP over DVI.

My name is Brad and I work at Dell headquarters in Round Rock, TX. It looks like you have already received the answer to your question, but the 2407 does have HDCP over DVI. Just a quick question, what are you going to use that is HDCP?

I have had the Dell 2407HC since it first came out and have not had the ghosting problem.
I have run tests and games on it. I did have the trail from the mouse when running it over the screen but adjusting the color levels corrected that.
I adjusted the color settings to red 90 blue 90 green 90. If I set them back to 100 the problem comes back.

As of right now I have no problems with it and would recommend it to anyone.
I have it sitting right next to the Planar PX2611W screen which is IPS and the 2407HC looks just as good.

It seems that you have changed your name. It was once Richard and now it's Brad. I don't believe that Dick is short for Richard, not Brad.

Customer advocate? Maybe you can go to bat for us against the bean counters who want to use cheaper TN based panels (or switch types at random) and let them know that there is a market for high quality S-IPS and other technologies. We do know the difference between panel types and most of us can tell without looking at the specs...keep in mind that we are the ones that suggest technology products to people who don't know, and some of us buy in large quanities for companies.;)
