After much reading and debating, I came up on a conclusion. I read great reviews on the SAM 226BW. Before I purchase anything. I would like to consider the Dell 2007WFP. If I have to return the monitor until I get the S-IPS I will. I am going to call the call center and ask for the "philips panel" LM201W01. My biggest concern about the Dell is the 16ms and 8 gtg. I am a bigger gamer. I have a AMD 64 XP 4000, with 2 gigs and a 7800GT. I need to upgrade this year. I am afraid the Dell will ghost on GRAW and Rainbow 6 Vegas, FIFA 07 and Madden 07. I am purchasing a monitor to last about 3-4 years. Also, I watch alot of movies on my computer. This is why I want to stay away from the Sam 226BW because of the TN panel. Also, I saw an "Open Box" NEC 20WMGX2 for $399. What are some of your imputs

I'll go ahead and put it like this...if you get a good S-IPS Dell 2007WFP then you will have the best possible monitor in the under $400 category. Nothing against the Samsung but when I was shopping for a second monitor I found that nothing could touch the Dell for PQ and features in a 20" widescreen...except for the NEC 20WMGX2 which is $600+. When I weighed the pros and cons, I decided the NEC wasn't $250 better than the Dell..

I spoke with the guy at Dell, and he said that they stopped making the ISPS monitor and they are only shipping out the PVA. Dell Sucks

So, my best bet is with the samsung. I am getting it for $335 with taxes

I have a 10% coupon from ebay, and I also have a 30 mail in rebate with samsung.

How much better is PVA than TN? I ~think~ I have TN panel right now, and the viewing angles aren't too bad. How could I checked if it's a TN or not? It's a Viewsonic VG150 (15" inches, don't laugh) LCD monitor. How can I check if it's TN or not?

Here at work, I have two 19" Cicero LCD monitors. I am almost positive they are TN, because the viewing angles are pretty shitty. I get enormous color shifts/contrast shifts from different angles.

Honestly go to best buy or circut city and check out some of the 22 inch panels. I use a tn panels at work and the viewing angles are fine. I went to best buy and all the 22 inch panels had horrible viewing angles. If I moved my head more than a few inches the screen would just go dark up or down side to side was fine. I was gun ho on getting a 22 inch panel now I am either going to save for a 24 inch, a 20 inch pva or a referb dell 2007wfp.

The think to remember is that pretty much every 22" monitor out there except the 226BW (but, interestingly enough, including the 225BW) has the same TN LCD panel made by AUO which is not that great in my opinion. The backlighting is uneven, and the viewing angles not very good (at least to me). Consequently, they all look equally poor. Chi Mei also makes a 22" panel which is very similar in characteristics to the AUO one that is used in Chi Mei and Westinghouse branded monitors. So make sure to take a very good look at the 226BW itself, as it is markedly superior monitors with the AUO or Chi Mei panels.

There is a huge variety in quality of TN panels out there at the moment, as the technology is rapidly developing. I still have not examined the 226BW very closely, but I can certainly say that the 204B, which is Samsung's TN replacement to the 204T PVA model, is an excellent monitor. I really have a hard time believing it's not a PVA. In my opinion, if you cannot tell if it is PVA or TN (or IPS) by looking at it, then it doesn't really matter, does it? :)

Hear, hear. It is so refreshing to hear someone trust their eyes rather than going on and on about the specs. For the record I love my Sammy 226BW even though it's only been 3 days.

and mavro, if you got the monitor at CC the store will retain a 15% restocking fee. So you'll be losing $45 for nothing.

You have a point, i guess i am beeing to picky. This is my first LCD. I am so excited. Its like the day that I first got laid. lol, this is better.........

Well, I received my 2007WFP yesterday and it's a S-IPS

YEJ, How is it for gaming? FPS games? I need to know. I was told if I return the monitor within 24 hours, i dont get charge a restocking fee.

I don't know since I don't own any FPS games, but so far the monitor looks great for everything I do use it for - mainly internet and movies. And I love how adjustible it is, and its many USB ports.
