Man I cant wait for this. Not really a game play trailer so its hard to tell but it looks like it might be a little more RPG this time than shooter. Thatll be fine with me cause there is a lot of great story potential there. These are almost up there with Mass Effect for me so Ill be standing in line on day 1 with my $60 in hand.

Video NSFW - language!

Love this series. Barring something ridiculous, this will be a day one buy for me.

I'm hoping the co-op is done well and doesn't negatively impact the focus of what this game is supposed to be about.

Thanks EA for listening to the fans and adding co-op to Dead Space. It works so well for Resident Evil 5 so of course it should work great here. :(

Depends on how its handled. I'm a little concerned, too.

Hmm, kinda mixed about the co-op. Probably gonna take a lot of the fear factor out of the game, still looks good though. Should be fun to play with my brother when it comes out.

I really like the first two Dead Space games. I really hope EA doesn't mess this game up like they seem to do with all of their other games.

I dont think that they will. They didnt mess with DS2 and in fact, I thought it was actually better than the first one. Maybe Visceral has enough pull or whatever that they can keep EA's incompetent, greedy mitts off their work.

This used to be one of my favorite HORROR franchises until about 5 minutes ago, now it looks like more of an action squad-based shooter with a few scary monsters thrown into the mix

It looks a lot like Lost Planet 1. Not sure how I feel about it right now.

Sad to see they made it like RE5, too much action and not much horror anymore :(

Not impressed that they've stuck bro-op into the game. A co-op mode separate from the campaign would be great but being bound to a foul-mouthed douchebag partner through the campaign is not going to lend itself to an atmospheric experience.

you can watch the actual gameplay demo too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=l42yojq2EyM#!

the game has made the predictable transformation into a full blown action game. the first game was actually close to survival horror. Isaac felt like a real person. the second game had a bit too much action and Isaac felt more like a soldier. and of course they had to add stupid multi player. and now with the third game we look to have full blown action game and freaking co-op. yet another survival horror game franchise is ruined to keep the kiddies happy.

Yep, the dumbed it down. Everything that made DS unique, tense and terrifying is gone.
The should have just killed off Issac Clarke, partnering him up with some doucebag is by far the worst thing that's happened to him...

Fuck EA, Fuck Visceral.

I'd reserve judgement until more details come out. According to interviews if you play single player you won't have an a.i. partner.

Resident Evil 5 is my favorite of the series purely for the co op. IMO a mediocre co op game is better than a good single player experience. I am sure I am the minority here though.

edit: my only requirement is that they do not high five at any point in the game, I will kill somebody.

That's great for you but there is no shortage of co-op games. Halo 4, Gears whatever, Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2, Diablo 3, etc, etc.

There is a shortage of survival horror games. We get maybe 1-2 a year, if that.

There is always a shortage of good co op games, Im not going to get into semantics here, just stating my preference.

I do agree that there are very few 'good' survival horror games though. Adding a co op experience will probably ruin the experience. Although, they say you go solo in single player (no computer assisted 'buddy'). That should give some hope.

I beat Dead Space 1, it was a great game. DS2 was better in every single possible way, this will dumb down the series to some degree most likely.

So I'm gathering no forced Sheva style co-op. That's good news. :)

That is good news, I don't mind co-op so long it is completely optional. Otherwise, I envision walking down a creepy hallway, hearing some weird noise and your wise-cracking partner saying, "Oops sorry, I farted."

Looks like shit. Co-op, shooter enemies, cover. Fothermucking cover? Go fuck yourselves, EA and Visceral.

Little harsh don't ya think? This wasn't even a gameplay trailer.

Besides, I don't mind them changing things up a little. I mean you can't just do the same thing over and over again. They changed a couple things up in 2, made it a little more character driven and I think it was better than the first. Looks like this time they're doing a little more with the characters and that's fine with me. I admit I'm not crazy about co-op if that's the way they're going though. I don't mind some changes so long as they leave to core of the game alone which is horror and tons of atmosphere.

I don't mind cover fighting either as long as they don't overdo it.

I posted a gameplay video here so that is what he is probably referring to...

its supposed to be a survival horror game not a cover based co-op shooter...

Cover is antithetical to horror because cover denotes safety and horror requires the absence of safety. Safety in a horror game should be fleeting and sparse. Think save rooms in the old RE games. A temporary breather in an otherwise totally dangerous environment.

Plus FUCK COVER. Change things up? By making DS like every other third person shooter? The genre that has far and away dominated this entire stupid generation? You can't fart in a Gamestop without covering a dozen third person cover based shooters in shit molecules.

It breaks my heart because DS is my favorite new IP of the HD generation. DS and DS2 are both masterful games, but all these changes? They have the stink of design by committee. Someone in a suit said the way to make a game sticky is to add online, and to make it more shooter heavy, and to put in fucking cover because that's what the kids like nowadays: duck walking from box to box shooting wack a moles in the face. Headshots. Teabags. Banter. Goddamn it.

Yeah my bad, I missed the gameplay video link.

Still, I dont have a big problem with it....yet That was a 5 minute clip of a 10+ hour long game so I don't think I'm quite ready to bring out the long knives yet. I totally agree that EA/Visceral turning DS into Call of Duty but with necromorphs would be one of the most fucked up stupid thing they could do. That segment did look more like BF3 than DS3.

The thing that does bother me is "they're sending in reinforcements"? What? I don't want to fight reinforcements, I want to fight 3 headed monsters with 3' long blades for hands. So we've got enemy troops now? I'm watching on a cell phone so I couldn't tell for sure.

So after watching that I do agree it does look bad but as good as 1 and 2 are I gotta think they couldn't do a complete 180 and change the very fundamentals of the game. I'm hoping they chose a segment that they thought would appeal to the masses.

if that's the gameplay they are showing off then its probably to indicate what the game will be like for the most part. that is NOT what true Dead Space fans want to see. that looked more like a cross between Lost Planet 2 and Gears of War.

True. I'm still gonna be optimistic tho. I mean DS1 and DS2 were just so fucking good. I just can't see them butchering it like this.

I went to see what people were saying on the official Dead Space forums but they actully have closed it. wtf?

"Dear Dead Space fans – thank you for spending time with us on the Dead Space forums. Unfortunately, the time has come for us to sunset these boards on June 1st. "

Oh shit. Wonder if they saw what happened to BioWare on their forums over the ME3 ending and are trying to head off the nerd rage. Fuck man, that isn't a good sign at all. :(

I think I'm going to play through 1 and 2 again after watching this. Not sure how I feel about co-op I think it's a better solo game and the co-op will knock the scary and creepy factor down a few pegs.

The first two were some of the best games of the last few years.

As much as I'm concerned about the co-op, it's hard not to be excited about another DS. I'm hoping they can pull it off.

Am I the only one who could not make any sense of the plot of DS 2? It just seemed completely incoherent.....no explanation as to why they would want to build another marker, how they came to build the first marker, why the marker needed to absorb Isaac to be reborn or why the fuck Isaac needed to take an injection to the eye in order to defeat the mega marker.

Maybe I need to replay it, but it just seems that the plot is becoming sillier with each sequel.

DS2 was the first horror game I have ever played/finished, twice, and I hate horror movies and games.... it looks like DS3 is getting punched in the sack by EA just like ME3.
