So, dead mid '13 MBA 13inch Laptop. Looks like it might be a logic board failure. 1 year warranty expired around 2 months ago... :(
 
Take it into a store or call up phone support. You can do a mail in option for a flat rate fix of $280. Worst is that you will lose your data if they find a problem with the ssd or the OS.
 
Did you use a credit card? Check to see if it has the perk of extending warranty on purchases. For example, American Express will extend warranty on electronics up to one year.
 
Unfortunately I paid with my debit card :(, probably going to go the route of flat rate repair if that's available. It's pricey but at least ill have my machine back.
 
you can try to sweet talk a genius or apple corp. into letting you backdate extended applecare.
$280 isn't bad, though. next time get the 3 year applecare. these devices are past the point of end-user and/or inexpensive repair.
 
Hah yeah ill be trying to sweet talk this but I don't expect anything. I have only had a few macs. Honestly its the last apple ill buy, probably the last laptop ill buy. I bought it for school and unless I go for grad school I won't need one anymore other than what my job will provide.
 
You'd be surprised. I had my mom bring her ipad in and they were really nice about it. You never know!
 
So yeah, figured I should update this. I ended up on the phone with Applecare CS and was referred to a second level representative. Apple is actually getting the laptop fixed and I will be picking it up in the next few days, all at 0 cost to me. I explained what I did and they checked over the machine and are taking care of me. Apple has definitely earned kudos in my book over this.
 
There's a reason why JD Power and Associates keeps rating Apple for the highest in customer care. Your story isn't unique. Glad to hear you got it all resolved.

Seems premature... what kind of environment was it in? Any drops or spills? I had no clue they only came with a one year warranty :( Probably flat rate is your best bet
