Thought I hit the jackpot today....but no. I found a shitload of Windows XP cd's and boxs that look like they were used to install on machines in the store....but the fuckers didn't even give whoever they're selling these computers to the cd's, they just used snippers or something to cut one side so they are unusable and then threw everything in the trash  The foldouts even have the product keys and everything still on them, not blanked out. I checked but try as I might I couldn't find a cd that wasn't destroyed :( I did find some plastic wire shrouding (usefull for engine bay stuff) and a sample pack of hp photo paper though, so it wasn't a complete waste.

do not toss the windows xp stuff yet! You have a barcode scanner? The serial number *may* be encoded in the barcode!

Last thursday was the big DD day here in town. The computer store I work for did the recylcing center thing and I managed to pick up the following:

7x17" CRT Monitors (working)
2x Oki Laser printers (one has bad drum, other works fine)
1x HP Ink-jet

I ended up giving it all away to friends as I didn't have a use for any of it. Someone swipped the 19" CRT I had hidden away for myself :(

I wasn't DD persay today but I managed to score a over head projector (Elmo-L355) ! :D

It was in a pile to be tossed out where i work/go to school and I grabed it before it went else where. And the sweet thing about it, The glass is mint, and it works!!!
The only thing I can find wrong with it is the adjustable feet in the front are missing (no biggie).

I'm sure some are you probbaly wondering why I'm excited about a overhead projector.. Well I have a Sharp overhead tablet at home :D Time to make a big ass TV for FREEEEEE
I'll post picks later if I remmeber too

thats the ghettoest thing i've ever herd...

Found 11 XMODS RC cars, half a dozen of which were completely functional. No upgrades though, can't ask for everything :p

What he means is that he can take apart his tablet pc so the the back light is gone and just the lcd can be seen from both sides, lay it over the overhead and voila an easy 3000+ lumons projector...

There was a guide to doing it properly on tom's hardware, basically use blocks to keep the screen from touching anything and place a fan to blow air between the overhead glass and lcd, otherwise the heat from the overhead would ruin the lcd.

Wow, I don't think he's going to take apart a tablet PC for this...
I think the "LCD Tablet" he's referring to is actually called a Transparecy Panel like those listed HERE
He's not going to get the best performance out of the display, but it is cheap.

ATTENTION:

I'm trying not to be a Nazi by going thru here deleting everyone's posts, but try to keep this thread to posting what you've found and discussion to the other thread plz.

Thanks :)

I got a self inflating king sized matress (with no leaks), a full set of dishes with one broken cup handle, a heated comforter, and a back massager.

Left school today and passed by a recently closed cell phone store. Found this, plus three others:

Other signs were for T-Mobile, Cingular, and Nextel. Didn't have time to rummage through the rest of the trash but this was still a good find.

Awesome find...

Uhm, what are you going to do with it?

Right now i'm using it as a light for my room, mostly at night since I don't need that much light. It's good though. Might sell the Nextel sign. If anyone's interested in the NYC area (since I don't want to ship), let me know through PM, do not post here.

15" Monitor, speakers, keyboard, and mouse in the dumpster for my apartment complex. No computer to be seen though.

I've intercepted alot of stuff before it makes it into a dumpster. A nice 48" drawing board, 14" TV/VCR combo (broken VCR that was easily fixed), floor lamp, and 4 LCD screens (still need to wire one up to my parallel port)..

So far I've found an HP printer demo unit, some double-cd jewel cases, and lots of unused bubble wrap.

eh, it's a start.

Had my first dd the other day. Sadly, it was a dissapointment. Just found some boxes, a giant spool (which isn't too bad actually), some books, slides for a projector, and a switch box that I have yet to figure out what it is. I'll have to post a pic later and someone might be able to help me with that. I'll have to make a venture out when it gets a little warmer, like above freezing.

Roar. I was at circuit city so I decided to check the dumpster. Well, I peeked in and found a 19" color TV that still works and a working scanner, Some BIG aluminium posters, and a PS/2 mouse. Pretty good for my second time dumpster diving. :p

After reading this thread I was inspired to do this myself, only place I could find was a staples but I eneded up finding 4 dvd-rws, a nice leather organizer, a few other things and two office chairs (one with massager) that I regretably had to leave behind since i was in my moms car. The chairs were slashed on the seat but other than that were in perfect shape! I should be going again very soon...

mason you did pretty well, make shure you keep it secretive and sneaky as if others see you pulling goodies out of the dumpster they eventually will too, and then employes know and then you know, because the dumpsta is locked  anyhow congratz on your new spot! Good Luck!

Haha that's awesome. I actually got a nice stack of porn mags from the hastings around here a couple years ago. :D Haven't come across any since, though. :( About a month ago they started putting a bar across the dumpster lids and locking it, but it seems they have since given up on that.

Anyway, to keep this post on topic, here are a few of the things I've found recently:
4 book MCSE training guides
MCSE networking essentials book
couple random cables

That's about it for the last couple weeks. Nothing good lately. My roommate just sold some piece of shit old keyboard he found on the side of the road for $120 on ebay! Crazy shit.

haha, thats awesome, i have an old keyboard that fits the bigger plug and has sf(#) keys (sf1, sf2, sf3, ...sf10, etc.) im gonna try to sell that on ebay, lol. on a related note to this thread, me and my friend found bob the builder and spongebob umbrellas in a dumpster, which we beat the shit out of and chucked back in.

I went back this past weekend and found about 60 CD-Rs and 10 DVD-RW's, there was another office chair bit this one was really messed up, a filing cabinet, and two laptop bags that were too messed up to take. I did get a crapload of free Cds/Dvd's though!

Haha nice mason, have a crapload of CD cases (pics in my link above) to go with that :p

At my apartment (didn't have to dive, I was taking out the trash already! :p ):

Sony Trinitron 17" CRT. Made in 1994 but works great! Some of the anti-glare is rubbed off but once I figure out how I'll just take the rest of it off.

Yamaha MIDI Keyboard - Saw one on eBay with missing battery cover go for >$100, so I'll probably try to clean it up and sell it.

PS2 Keyboard/Mouse - Ended up throwing these back away as I seem to have too many and didn't want to take the effort to clean them up.

2 Power Cables - Regular PC power cables. They're not worth much, but it's always nice to have a spare. These were brand new in baggies.

Nice finds for no effort. Turns out someone was moving so they were clearing stuff out that they didn't want to move.

Sorry it's the only picture I got... (yes that's my GF ;) )
I found that 3' x 3' Playstation Sign behind an Orland Park Gamestop peeping out of the dumpster!!!!

I literally STUFFED it in my Prelude and got it home.
The other side says "Nintendo 64"
Luckily I have a drop ceiling otherwise I would not know how to hang it. I would say it weighs a solid 50 pounds!!!!

It was the best "find" I've ever found in a long time!
