Dataplex caching and virus scans: I think it writes a ton of data to the SSD

Guys, I just downloaded and installed Microsoft Security Essentials on this computer and ran a full virus scan on my hard drive. My HDD is being used with an OCZ Synapse 64GB caching drive. Yesterday my SSD had about 260 GB of data written to it, today I just checked (a few hours after running a virus scan) and it has about 350 GB written.

I had been monitoring my Synapse drive and it was only writing about 5 GB of data per day. Today my drive has written about 90 GB worth of data!

So what do you guys think, does it write data on your caching drive when you run a virus scan?

Well I guess the caching system thinks that since data is read, it must be important, so caches it. And the scan would have read all the HDD.

bump if you have a caching drive please LMK what happens when you run a virus scan.

What are you using to read out data R/W on your drive? I could run the same test on my COrsair cache SSD...but it is invisible to all the disk info tool I have handy (I.e. AIDA64, HDTune).
