Seven years after its introduction, Dark Souls has made its way back to us. Those of us who want to beat our heads on our keyboards over, and over, and over again. Digital Foundry has a great review of the new features in the game from a graphic's and tech perspective. Yeah, we like that geeky stuff.

Check out the video.

It's the port we were most concerned about after the disastrous PC 'Prepare to Die' Edition... but developer QLOC has pulled it off. You get fresh new visuals, improved performance and proper resolution support. But as Alex reveals, perhaps it's just a bit too close to the console versions for its own good.

Finally, they patched Dark Souls for PC. What's that? It's going to cost $20 for the patch?

Loving the DF props. Those guys are really cool and create content worth sharing.

Never finished Dark Souls... Might get it this patched version for $20 (if you have the Prepare to Die Edition in Steam, the new one is 50% cheaper).

Christ, Alex has such a punchable voice.

bought this game on pc and an xbox controller > couldnt walk down a hallway it was so bugged. super let down.

bought fallout las vegas... played the sheet out of it 3x over... loved it. wife bought me the xbox controller and it was awesome for playing fallout vegas.

The biggest improvement is dedicated servers IMO. The P2P IP pooling system was a pain in the ass for organized play, which was entirely fixed in subsequent Souls games.

Reddit users are forming a consensus about weapon-upgrade level matchmaking , with no released patch notes about that. Similar to DS3, but more obfuscated. If you acquired at any point in the game a +15 weapon, you're only matching (invading or seeing signs) with players who acquired +9 to +15 weapons. Putting weapon in storage or destroying it, or equipping a different weapon does not change the matchmaking.

So anyone looking to be summoned for typically lower level boss fights will need to manage their weapon level accordingly.

Armor upgrade level is not taken into account for matchmaking.

As seen here
Also reportedly, a severe lack of anti-cheat allows PC players with hacks to maliciously inflict Curse and Egg negative status effects on others players during invasions. This was something rampant in the original PC release as well.

Game looks and runs well though.
